The longest three days of my life.

I know Kai needed to spend some time with his family, but I missed him. I would have liked something to distract me at work, but nothing important was happening. Was I a bad person for wanting something bad to happen?

"Miss Keller?" I looked up from the table to my employees, with whom I was sitting in the meeting room.

"Yes?" I wasn't paying attention, so poor guy who was trying to present his project.

"I asked if you think it would be a good idea to build a bigger garden next to the hotel. Add more greenery, maybe move the parking lot."

"Uhm..." I looked at the papers in front of me that he handed out before the presentation began. "I'll have to look into it a little more, but thank you." I smiled at him. "Good job. If that's all, the meeting is over."

My words made everyone pack up, stand up and leave. I remained sitting in my place while everyone left.

"Get yourself together, Adrianna," I said to myself when I was alone.

"Talking to yourself again?" If it had been anyone else, they would have had a problem with not knocking.

"Do you need anything, Nicole?" I looked up at her.

"Me? No." She shrugged. "But you should go home. You look terrible."

I gave her a nasty look. "You're fired."

"Oh, poor me." She tilted her head to the side. "Go home, Adrianna." She turned on the spot, but before she left I stopped her.

"Nicole?"

"Hm?"

"You're a good friend." I smiled. "A bad employee, but a good friend."

She narrowed her eyes. "You're either drunk or pregnant. But it can't be both."

My smile dropped. "You're fired."

"Maybe if you say it enough times, it will happen." She winked at me. "Love you too. But go home." She walked out the door and left me alone.

I looked at the watch on my wrist. It's not too late, but I haven't done anything productive so far, so maybe it is a good idea to go home.

Yes, I need wine and some takeout.

As I stood in the elevator, just a few floors away from my apartment, I called Kai. I haven't heard from him all day, except for a few messages early in the morning.

He didn't pick it up.

"Seriously?" I let out a frustrated breath and exited the elevator, pulling the keys out of my purse.

Today is really not my day.

I unlocked the door and walked inside. The first thing that caught my attention was the light coming from the living room and kitchen. It wasn't a normal light because it was moving.
