Beomgyu sat on the couch, his fingers absently tracing the anklet around his ankle. It shimmered faintly in the sunlight, reminding him of his mother. He smiled softly and spoke to himself, “This anklet means so much to me. My baby should have one too.”
With a sudden burst of determination, he grabbed his phone and called Soobin. The phone rang twice before Soobin answered with a mix of amusement and suspicion.
“Beomgyu, what’s wrong this time? Did Yeonjun forget to feed you or something?”
Beomgyu pouted, even though Soobin couldn’t see him. “No, Hyung! I need a ride to the anklet store. Can you come pick me up?”
Soobin hesitated. “Why the anklet store? You already have one. What’s going on?”
“I want to get a matching anklet for my baby!” Beomgyu explained, his voice filled with excitement.
There was a brief silence before Soobin let out an exasperated sigh. “You’re something else, Gyu. Fine, I’ll be there in ten minutes. But don’t even think about dragging me into one of your shopping sprees.”
---
True to his word, Soobin arrived within minutes, honking lightly to signal he was outside. Beomgyu hurried out of the house, waving happily as he climbed into the car.
“Hyung, thank you! You’re the best!” Beomgyu said, grinning.
Soobin rolled his eyes playfully. “Yeah, yeah. Just don’t make me regret this.”
They reached the anklet store shortly, and Beomgyu was practically buzzing with excitement as he stepped inside. The displays sparkled under the lights, and he couldn’t help but gasp in awe.
“Wow! Look at all these!” Beomgyu exclaimed, pressing his hands against the glass cases.
Soobin followed behind, looking unimpressed. “It’s just jewelry, Gyu. Don’t get too excited.”
Beomgyu ignored him, his eyes landing on a sign that read Custom Anklets Available. He turned to the shopkeeper eagerly.
“Excuse me, how much for a customized anklet?”
The shopkeeper smiled. “That would be 400.”
Beomgyu frowned slightly, considering. “And how many names or symbols can I add?”
“Up to four,” the shopkeeper replied.
Beomgyu’s face lit up. “I’ll take one!”
Soobin raised an eyebrow. “And whose money are you planning to use for this little project?”
“Yeonjun’s, obviously,” Beomgyu said with a cheeky grin.
Soobin relaxed, smirking. “Good. For a second, I thought you wanted me to pay. Let me tell you now, Gyu, I love you, but I’d never.”
Beomgyu snickered and took the paper the shopkeeper handed him. He carefully wrote:
1. Mama Beomgyu
2. Dada Yeonjun
3. A butterfly
Satisfied, he handed the paper back and pulled out Yeonjun’s card to pay.
“All set,” the shopkeeper said as the payment processed. “It will be ready in a few days.”
---
As they walked out of the store, Beomgyu’s phone rang. He glanced at the screen and smiled at Yeonjun’s name.
“Hello, baby,” Beomgyu greeted sweetly.
“Babe,” Yeonjun’s voice came through the line, teasing. “What did you just buy with my card?”
Beomgyu blushed, glancing at Soobin, who was smirking knowingly beside him. “An anklet… for our baby.”
There was a pause before Yeonjun chuckled. “Gyu, the baby isn’t even born yet. You’ve got time, you know.”
“I know,” Beomgyu replied, fidgeting. “But I’m just excited. I want everything to be perfect for our baby.”
“You’re already perfect,” Yeonjun said warmly. “And you’re going to be an amazing mama.”
Beomgyu’s heart fluttered at Yeonjun’s words. “I love you, Hyung.”
“And I love you more, my anklet,” Yeonjun replied, his voice tender before hanging up.
Beomgyu slipped his phone into his pocket, still smiling.
“So,” Soobin began, smirking, “are we heading home now, or are you planning to max out Yeonjun’s card while you’re at it?”
“Hyung!” Beomgyu exclaimed, puffing his cheeks indignantly as he lightly smacked Soobin’s arm. “I would never!”
Soobin laughed, starting the car. “Sure, sure. Let’s get you home before you come up with another expensive idea.”
As they drove back, Beomgyu leaned back in his seat, his thoughts filled with excitement for the anklet—and the baby who would one day wear it.
