Beomgyu lay on the couch in their cozy living room, his swollen belly a constant reminder that their baby was due any day now. At nine months pregnant, every little movement felt like a marathon. He let out a small sigh, trying to find a more comfortable position.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his abdomen, causing him to clutch his belly. “Oh, no, not now,” he muttered, his breathing quickening as another contraction hit.
Beomgyu reached for his phone with shaky hands and dialed Yeonjun, who was at work. The line connected on the second ring.
“Hey, love,” Yeonjun greeted warmly. “What’s up? How are you feeling?”
“Baby,” Beomgyu said, his voice trembling. “I think this baby wants to come out now.”
There was a brief pause on the other end. “What?! Gyu, are you serious?” Yeonjun’s tone shifted to panic.
“Yes! It hurts so much, Jjunie,” Beomgyu whimpered. “Please come home. I can’t take this anymore.”
“Okay, okay, stay calm,” Yeonjun said, his voice firm but soothing. “Don’t move, love. I’m on my way. Just breathe for me, alright?”
“Just hurry,” Beomgyu managed to say before ending the call and curling into himself on the couch.
---
Yeonjun arrived home in record time, practically kicking the door open as he rushed inside. “Gyu! Where are you?”
“In here,” Beomgyu called weakly from the living room.
Yeonjun hurried to his side, his eyes widening at the sight of Beomgyu pale and sweating on the couch. “Baby, it’s okay. I’m here now,” he said, kneeling beside him.
“It hurts,” Beomgyu whispered, tears streaming down his cheeks.
“I know, love,” Yeonjun said, pressing a gentle kiss to his forehead. “We need to get you to the hospital. Can you stand?”
Beomgyu shook his head. “I don’t think so.”
Without another word, Yeonjun scooped Beomgyu up into his arms, cradling him protectively. “Hold on to me,” he murmured as he carried him out to the car.
---
The drive to the hospital was tense. Beomgyu gripped Yeonjun’s hand tightly, his nails digging into his skin as he tried to manage the pain.
“Breathe with me, love,” Yeonjun said, glancing at him as he drove. “In through your nose, out through your mouth.”
Beomgyu nodded, trying to follow Yeonjun’s instructions, though his breaths were shaky. “It’s coming so fast,” he whispered. “Junnie, I’m scared.”
Yeonjun reached over to squeeze his hand. “You’re not alone, Gyu. I’m right here. We’re going to meet our little son or daughter soon, okay?”
Beomgyu managed a weak smile at the mention of the name they had chosen together. “they're really coming,” he said softly.
---
At the hospital, a team of nurses and doctors was already waiting, thanks to Yeonjun’s call on the way. Beomgyu was rushed into a delivery room, with Yeonjun staying by his side every step of the way.
“Yeonjun,” Beomgyu whimpered, his hand reaching out as the medical staff prepped him.
“I’m here, love,” Yeonjun said, taking his hand and pressing a kiss to it. “You’ve got this. I’m not going anywhere.”
The labor was intense, with Beomgyu crying out during each contraction. Tears streamed down his face as he clung to Yeonjun, his body trembling with the effort.
“It’s too much,” Beomgyu sobbed. “I can’t do this, Jjunie.”
“Yes, you can,” Yeonjun said firmly, his voice filled with determination. “You’re the strongest person I know. Just focus on me, okay? One more push, love. You’re so close.”
Beomgyu nodded, drawing strength from Yeonjun’s unwavering support. With a final push, the room was filled with the sound of their baby’s first cry.
---
“It’s a boy!” the doctor announced, holding up the tiny newborn.
Beomgyu let out a shaky laugh, collapsing back against the pillows as tears of relief and joy filled his eyes.
Yeonjun leaned down to kiss his forehead. “You did it, love. He’s here.”
A nurse brought the baby over, carefully placing him in Beomgyu’s arms. Beomgyu stared down at their son, his heart swelling with an overwhelming mix of love and awe.
“Hi, Jungwoo,” Beomgyu whispered, his voice trembling. “Welcome to the world, little one.”
“He’s perfect,” Yeonjun said softly, wrapping an arm around Beomgyu and their son. “Just like his mama.”
Beomgyu looked up at him, his eyes shining with love. “And his dada,” he added with a smile.
Yeonjun chuckled, pressing another kiss to Beomgyu’s forehead. “I love you so much, Gyu. Both of you.”
Beomgyu rested his head against Yeonjun’s shoulder, their baby nestled safely in their arms. “I love you too, Jjunie. Forever.”
In that moment, their little family felt complete, and they knew that this was just the beginning of a beautiful journey together.
