They had finished breakfast, Faye and Yoko were relaxing on the couch, enjoying a light program on the television. The atmosphere was cozy, until the sound of the phone ringing interrupted their moment of peace. Yoko looked at the screen with growing apprehension, seeing her father's name reflected on it.

"He's my father," Yoko said, uneasiness coloring her voice, a knot forming in her stomach. "I haven't spoken to him since that day..."

Faye gently squeezed Yoko's hand, seeking to give her strength. "Okay, talk to him. He's not the man I respect the most, but he's still your father," she said, trying to instill confidence in her.

Yoko hesitated, remembering the authoritarian fury and control Chet exerted over her life. "What if he's still upset? He can be very temperamental," she murmured, her voice shaking.

"I know , but I'm here for you. You don't have to face this alone," Faye insisted, her eyes filled with understanding and support.

Finally, Yoko reluctantly slid her finger to answer the call, putting the phone on speaker. Chet's voice, loud and commanding, filled the room.

"Yoko! What does this mean that I've been hearing? That you 're in a relationship with that woman?" he exclaimed, overflowing with anger.

Yoko cringed at the volume of his voice, but Faye encouraged her with a firm handshake. "Father, I... I can explain," she stammered, trying to remain calm.

"There's nothing to explain!" Chet bellowed. "It's unacceptable! Your reputation, mine, everything will be ruined by this aberration!"

Before Yoko could articulate a response, Faye stepped in with determination. "Mr. Apasra , with all due respect, this is not an aberration , as you describe it. We are together and we are going to stay that way."

There was a brief silence, and then Chet exploded again. "How dare you speak to me like that, you insignificant woman? You're just a pervert who has corrupted my daughter!"

Yoko flinched at her father's harsh words, but Faye remained unwavering. "Mr. Apasra , I suggest you calm down and listen. Yoko is a grown woman and free to make her own decisions. If you cannot respect that, then you will be the one in trouble. And if I may say so, your behavior is not a role model," Faye replied, her voice firm and defiant.

The sound of Chet's labored breathing filled the line for a few seconds. Suddenly, Yoko let out a moan and collapsed onto the couch. Faye turned quickly to her, her face furrowed with worry.

"Yoko! Are you okay?" Faye exclaimed, fearing that the confrontation with her father had triggered another crisis.

Chet, sensing the gravity of the situation, softened his tone slightly, but his anger was still palpable. "What's happened to my daughter?" he asked, though with a tone of control.

Faye, keeping a protective embrace on Yoko, replied firmly, "Mr. Apasra , I think it's best that we discuss this in person. Yoko needs to rest and I cannot attend to her properly while we discuss. I suggest you come to my house when you can, so I can clear this matter up once and for all."

There was a tense pause and then Chet huffed in frustration. "Okay. I'll be there within the hour. But if anything bad happens to my daughter because of you, I won't forgive you, Faye. You know what I'm capable of," he warned, the edge of his threat echoing down the line before he hung up.

Faye breathed a sigh of relief; at least Chet had agreed to talk in person. After all, she had faced his wrath a couple of times before and she would not be intimidated. With a mixture of fear and determination, she knew that she was becoming his daughter-in-law, much to her chagrin. Wasting no more time, she gently hugged Yoko, whispering words of comfort. Right now, the only thing that mattered was taking care of the woman she loved.
