Jay was running around the junkyard. He was so enthusiastic that he took a scrap of metal and welded it to something he was building. Jay pushed a button, and... Boom! Jay was on the ground; his eyebrow hurt like crazy. He touched it with his finger, and there was blood all over his hand. He ran inside and looked in the mirror; there was a huge gash on his left eyebrow that almost hit his eye. Jay pulled out a notebook and jotted down, "Well, the blanket that keeps you warm and cool in the summer was a flop." He went to the kitchen sink and washed his face and put a cloth on his gash to stop the bleeding. Jay sat down at the kitchen table, waiting for his parents to return from wherever they go during the weekends. He continued to sit there, bored out of his mind, when he got an idea. He grabbed some scrap and fabric and made a pair of wings. He ran outside and onto the trailer roof. He jumped off, and he only flew a few inches before he hit the ground. "Jay!" Edna cried as she ran to him. "Oh, my Jay, what were you thinking? You could have hurt yourself really badly," Edna said as she brushed some dust off her son. "Mommm," Jay whined. Jay got up and immediately fell over, and Ed came over to help him up. "Are you okay, Jay?" Ed asked. "Yeah, I'm fine, Dad," Jay said as he tried to walk over to the trailer. But he fell over again.
A week later, Jay was on top of a building in Ninjago City. He brought the flying machine and was going to test it out. Jay spread his arms and jumped off. "I can fly!" he yelled as he flew over buildings and past billboards. Jay was flying one of his inventions; finally, it worked! But he was so happy that he didn't notice the billboard right in front of him. And then... CRASH! Jay opened his eyes and looked behind him. Jay had crashed through a billboard. The flying machine was now broken. "That's it! I've had it! You piece of useless, broken junk! It's impossible!" Jay cursed as he stood up and kicked the machine. "Is it," a voice called from beside him. Jay looked over to see an old man sipping tea. The man continued, "Or are we only confined by the walls we build ourselves?" Jay watched as the man made an origami swan and made it fly. "Who are you?" Jay asked. "A dreamer like you, attempting to build the impossible. Care to join?" the man asked. Jay nodded, and from then on, his life as the new Master of Lightning began.
Six years later, Jay was in the game room of the monastery. "Oh, come on, Cole!" Jay yelled as he mashed the buttons of the controller. "You know I'm beating you. Give up, Zap-trap!" Cole laughed. That made Jay even more determined to win over Cole, and he locked in after a tense battle on Prim Empire. Jay won. Jay got up and did a victory dance while singing, "Take that, Bolder-brain!" But little did the two know, a small Dalmatian puppy was watching them with his master. Trixie helped the puppy and said, "Anubis, my friend, we have found that boy."
