THE bell rung signifying class, and therefore, school had ended. For Milani at least. She was lucky to have a shortened day, what a great day it was to be a senior. Out of 8 periods of the school day she only had 6 including lunch.
So after 5th hour she was gone everyday, it was currently Friday and it was just after 1pm. She had her nail appointment at 2 o'clock and in the meantime had went to get some food. She was currently sitting inside of Wendy's letting time pass until her appointment.
She'd been engrossed in school these past few days and after this weekend she hadn't talked to anyone but Londyn. She had been accidentally avoiding Ziya after their sleepover, and Aj and her just hadn't spoken about it.
She didn't want to read too much into it just for him to call her childish, but she also didn't want to brush it off just in case he was feeling her. What she did know was that he was nowhere near ready for a relationship, he had just gotten out of one a week ago and she was not about to be a rebound.
She quickly made her way out of the building and found her way through the crowded parking lot and to her car. Once she reached her car she quickly turned on the air, all week it had been scorching hot. It had been in the high 80's and Lani hated it to her core.
She loved her some summer but she couldn't stand that weather and the bugs.
It took her about 10 minutes to pull into the parking lot of the nail salon that her godmother, Shay, owned.
Grabbing her purse she stepped out of the car, closed her door and headed inside the building that sat in between a Chinese restaurant and a THC store.
The doorbells rang as she opened the door causing a few ladies who were getting their nails done to look over at her.
"Hi my babyyy," her godmother coo'd as she stepped from out the back of the salon.
"My favoriteeeeee," Milani smiled as the 2 walked up to each other with their arms outstretched.
After their greetings Shay led the girl to her station that was set up closer to the back of the shop.
"What you getting today babe?" She asked Milani pulling her gloves onto her hands.
Milani did a few swipes on her phone before showing her the picture of her inspiration that she had gotten from Pinterest.
"Okay, how have you been?" She asked Milani as she gathered all the supplies she would need for the set.
"I've been good, working and preparing for my finals for school," she shrugged and the older woman nodded with a smile.
"That's good, what about college? How's that looking?" She asked making Lani smile.
"Welllll I got into Spelman," she told her making Shay gasp with wide eyes.
"Whattttt, girlllll yesssss oh my goshhhh, I am so proud of you," Shay told the girl with a large smile on her face. Shay was Milani's mother best friend, the 2 used to talk to each other everyday but for the last 6 months, the 2 hadn't been on the best of terms.
