TODAY was officially the day Milani graduated high school, it was going on 2pm and her mom had already cried a good 4 times already. She had gotten her makeup done by one of her mom's friends making it free and she had a fresh install in from the weekend prior that still looked nice and fresh.
The event was being held at the State farm arena and the family was currently in tow to the arena. Unfortunately Lani didn't get to sit around any of her friends due to their differences in last names.
The ceremony began at 3:30 but they had to be there over an hour early for Lord knows why.
She had already taken her pictures in her gown with her friends earlier that day and would be taking her professional pictures after the ceremony. Unfortunately she had to return her gown right after their ceremony so she couldn't get more pictures in it.
"I can't believe imma be the only kid in the house," Zariya sighed looking at her sister.
"You still got Vani," Lani replied making Zar smack her lips.
"That bum, he gone be out the house in a few months," she spoke sadly.
"It's okay you still got me all summer. And bro these cut outs are sending me so bad," Lani laughed grabbing the large cutout of her face. Her family had printed out a bunch of cutouts from different years throughout her life.
"Yo mama so extra," Martin shook his head at his wife.
"Yo daddy a hater," Gina mushed his head with an eye roll.
"I'm proud of my baby and I wanna show her off," she added onto her statement. Zariya and Milani both did the clock it motion with their fingers making the girls cackle amongst themselves.
They finally pulled up to the arena and parted ways. Lani headed around to the back where they had practiced earlier that morning. They had rehearsals at 5am that day and she was so exhausted. The rehearsals lasted until 7am and once she got home she had to go get her toes and nails done. She had gotten them done for prom but was so sick of the color.
Milani was incredibly nervous because she was going to be presenting her speech. The school had asked 5 students from the class of 23 to give a Senior speech and she was one of them.
She had been practicing her speech for over 2 months and today was officially the day. All of the admin had told her the speech was absolutely brilliant but she couldn't help but be afraid that she might choke up.
The students waited in the long hallway for them to be introduced in front of the crowd for a good 30 minutes. She had been texting in the groupchat with Ziya and Londyn the entire time since they couldn't be next to each other.
Her feet were killing her so bad, she hated wearing heels and regretted her decision. She couldn't wait to get to her seat and relax her feet.
A few minutes later the students were led to their seats, a few administrators and teachers were called up to give a speech and finally the spotlight was given to the students.
Milani hadn't told any of her family members that she was going to be giving a speech and wanted to surprise them. Her name was announced to give a speech and the crowd erupted into loud claps.
