Chapter 19: The Aftermath
When the dust settled, the city was still. The chaos had ended. The monsters were gone. The mutated creatures turned to dust in the wind, and the sky slowly began to clear. Alex, Eliza, and Xander stood in the center of the destroyed stronghold, their bodies battered but alive.
The power of the magical pencil had taken its toll on Alex. He could feel his strength waning, but the world around him had returned to normal. The survivors in Ashfall City began to rebuild, their hope reignited after the fall of the Overseer.
Alex looked at Eliza and Xander, his closest companions. “We did it,” he said softly. “It’s over.”
But even as they celebrated their victory, Alex couldn’t shake the feeling that their journey was far from over. There were still questions about the origins of the crystals, the true extent of the magic he wielded, and whether any remnants of the Overseer’s forces still lurked in the shadows.
