As they near the bunker, Alex begins to have strange visions whenever he holds the magical pencil. Inside the bunker, the group finds advanced technology and cryptic logs detailing experiments on humans and animals. The logs reveal that the crimson sky and glowing-eyed monsters are the result of a failed experiment to create superhumans. Alex realizes the truth: he and Riley might be products of this experiment, which would explain their abilities and their connection to the apocalypse.

The chapter ends with the bunker’s power systems coming to life, triggering a countdown. A robotic voice announces:

“Awakening Phase Initiated. Prepare for the arrival of the Overseer.”

Alex tightens his grip on the magical pencil, determination burning in his eyes. “If someone’s writing this story,” he says, “it’s time I rewrite the ending.”
