Yosuga raced down the stairs two at a time in an attempt to leave before anyone could confront her. Though her wishes were left unheard when none other than her father stopped her.

"Yosuga!" He called her name, making her stop right in her tracks. Yosuga let out a breath of air through her nose, slightly irritated. She turned to look at her father as Minami came down the stairs. "Minami." Minami looked at him in question, her eyes flickering over to Yosuga for a second. "As both of you should already know, the Chunnin Exams are coming up." The two nodded. "As usual, failure will not be tolerated. You either come back a Chunnin, or you don't come back at all. I will not let you tarnish the Shimizu name by not moving on to the next rank."

Yosuga balled her hands into light fists as she and Minami looked at each other out of the corner of their eyes before they nodded. Yosuga grabbed an apple from the kitchen before leaving.

Naruto, Sakura, Yosuga and Sasuke stood on the bridge, waiting for what seemed like forever for their sensei to arrive.

"Hey, good morning, folks!" Kakashi appeared above them, crouched on a beam. "Today, I got a bit lost on the path of life..."

"That's a lie!" Naruto and Sakura shouted as Kakashi jumped down in front of them.

"As usual, your excuses are mediocre, Kakashi." Yosuga crossed her arms.

"You're so cruel, Yosuga. Anyways, this is sudden, but I recommended you guys for the Chunnin Exam, so..." Kakashi passed out small slips of papers to the three. "Here, these are your applications. That being said, the recommendations are not compulsory. You guys are free to decide whether you take the exam or not."

"Alright! I love you, Kakashi Sensei!" Naruto jumped onto Kakashi, hugging him.

"Hey, cut it out! Get away already..." Kakashi panicked a bit, pulling Naruto off of him. "Only those who want to take the exam sign that application and come to Room 301 of the Academy at Three o' Clock in the afternoon. Five days from now. That's all."

Naruto grinned, while Yosuga peered down at her application. Kakashi said the recommendations weren't compulsory, but she didn't have a choice either way. The next couple of days she would need to train.

"Chunnin Exams, huh? I bet lots of strong guys would be there!" Naruto daydreamed. The team began to walk away, but Kakashi called Yosuga back.

"Yosuga," He called, stopping the genin in her tracks. She turned around to look at him in question. "I need to speak with you."

Her stomach flipped, as she sighed. She knew what this was going to be about.

"Okay, I don't want to put you in a tough spot, Yosuga, but I need to know what happened back in the land of waves, and I need to know it won't happen again." Kakashi spoke. They sat in a small dango shop, but didn't order anything. Yosuga wasn't much of a fan of sweet things. She sighed, looking down at the table in front of her.

"I don't know what happened." She shrugged. She didn't want to talk about this, but she couldn't deny her sensei. "I don't remember much, but I do remember I hated every moment of it. One moment, I was protecting Naruto and the next, I couldn't see anything. Everything just hurt." She weakly chuckled. "The funny thing is, I remember dying. I remember stepping in front of Naruto at the last second, not because I was willing to die for him, but because I knew I had to stop the senbon and it was all I could think of." She was quiet for a moment. This threw Kakashi off. He had been told that Yosuga died protecting Naruto, but now, hearing that she didn't do it with the thought of saving him, threw him off. He had to remind himself though that she was a Shimizu, and Shimizu don't fight to protect. Not unless it's for the safety of the village. "I don't know if it will happen again or not, but the scariest thing about it all is that I remember dying, but I don't remember coming back alive."
