Daichi had always been a bit too protective of Yosuga, but not in the way most might think. He'd beat anyone who dared to lay a finger on her to a bloody pulp in a second (besides her father, of course), but only because he insisted on being the only one allowed to hurt her.
"Hey, the only one allowed to push Yosuga to the ground is me!" He'd yell as he punched the kid who made the mistake of accidentally bumping into Yosuga. Yosuga would roll her eyes as she stretched a gullible hand to Daichi as he pulled her up, only to push her down again.
"Why do you feel the need to torture me, Daichi?" She huffed, blowing a piece of hair out her face. "If you really want to kill me, then get it over with already."
"I can't yet." Daichi shrugged as Yosuga stood up on her own this time, brushing herself off. "To kill you now would be too easy. I want a challenge, so I'll wait until we're both at our strongest. But mark my words, Kaeru-san! Your death will be at my hands!" And he disappeared with a puff of smoke, leaving a mildly annoyed Yosuga with a small blush of embarrassment on her cheeks.
"I'm no frog." She mumbled.
***
Was he that weak? To be controlled so easily, was he that vulnerable? "The prodigy of the clan", what a lie. To be taken down so easily was a disgrace. An embarrassment. To be completely helpless in the grasp of a petty genjutsu... How disgusting.
Daichi's eyes slowly fluttered open, and it took a considerable amount of strength not to writhe in pain. His body burned, especially on his... His thigh. A tinge of despair dried his throat as his heart dropped. With a small groan, Daichi was able to very slowly sit up, bringing an aching hand to his leg. Though before he could worry himself with its functionality, he realized the situation he was in.
"Yosuga!" Was ripped from his lips, bringing a sharp ache to his chest as he turned to assess the situation. Yosuga was wrapped up in a foreign black substance, her head lolled back in her unconsciousness. It took Daichi a second to see the tall dark figure in front of her, a wretched smile on its pale face was all he could see. For a split second he wondered what the hell had happened while he was unconscious. The last thing he remembered was driving an enemy ninja to the side of a cliff. He had lost track of Yosuga as he engaged in battle but assumed she was fighting her own ninja.
This was not exactly what he was expecting when he opened his eyes. Where were all the enemy ninja? What was this gooey black substance? What was the black figure that held Yosuga?
The last question brought him out of his confusion and back into reality. Yosuga. He had to help her.
When did he end up unconscious? When did he leave her alone?
He groaned loudly as a shock of electricity ran through his body, sending waves of pain from his head to his feet. Another one came as he tried to push himself off the ground, equally painful, though he tried not to yell out this time. The figure turned to him.
"Oh, you're awake now? Did you want to... Watch?" The figure's smile stretched as Daichi struggled to make his way to his feet. He fell multiple times, electric shocks raking his already injured body. Though, as he tried to put pressure on his left leg, an excruciating pain shot down his leg, starting at his thigh, around the same place his old injury was. He screamed in pain, wrapping his hands around the wound as another shock brought him crashing to the ground again.
"Dammit. Dammit!" He cursed through clenched teeth. How was he going to be of any use if he couldn't even stand?
"Oh? Can you not... Move?" The figure chuckled as the black ooze slowly moved towards Daichi. "Shall I... Help you?"
Daichi out a low growl that erupted into a fit of coughing as another shock took his body. What happened? He was still a bit out of it but this feeling was starting to feel... Familiar? As he groaned, trying to make it to his feet again, the tar-like substance crawled closer to him. He knew this feeling. Like he had just been struck by... lighting.
The Rerugan.
His eyes flickered to Yosuga. She shot him? Why? It couldn't have been an accident, as the bullets only followed the users target. Why would she shoot him? Not only that, why would she use it in the first place? He knew she didn't like using her kekkei genkai, and tried to keep its use to a minimum. Did she really feel that threatened to use it? On him?
When did she even use it? His memory was so foggy, all he could remember was being ambushed by an enemy ninja in the cave and eventually driving them to the edge of the cliff. Where was Yosuga? What had she done?
Daichi didn't have any more time to think as his leg was wrapped up in the black goo followed by a draining feeling. It was taking his chakra. He yelled out in pain, the captured leg being his most injured one. In that moment, he realized just the danger they were in. Yosuga was wrapped up in that goo, and it was taking her chakra. It was sucking away her very life. She was going to die if he didn't do something soon. Now, they were both about to be captured, and he couldn't let that happen. They had to complete their mission. Anything less was a disgrace.
Daichi took a deep breath, setting aside his pain as his adrenaline began to kick in. He took his sword off his back, using it to cut the ooze from his leg. He quickly rolled away, scrambling to his feet as he brought up his sword. He faltered in his step, his leg nearly giving out on him, but he didn't feel anything. He was numb. Darting towards the figure, Daichi swung his sword down with the intention of cutting the figure right in half. Though, right at the last minute, Yosuga appeared in front of his target. Daichi cursed, halting his movements, his sword centimeters away from her face.
He spun around Yosuga, his sword following as he thrusted his arm foreword, jabbing the man cloaked in black in his stomach. Or at least where his stomach would be if he had a normal body like Daichi hoped. The man let out a displeased grunt.
"You're faster than I had... Excepted." He mumbled. Yosuga's confines tightened around her. "I'd love to stay and fight but I've got... Things to take care of." Yosuga groaned in her unconscious state, her face twisting in pain as the ooze tightened around her neck. Daichi scowled.
"Let her go." He growled as his sword began to spark with oncoming electricity, his eyes becoming a light blue. Something sparked in him- sparked or snapped- just like the chakra seeping into his sword. He wasn't fond of losing. He wasn't fond even more so of watching someone he cared for getting hurt.
The Shimizu Clan did well in regulating their emotions. They were never to get too upset, or something could happen. What exactly that was depended on the person. It was well known that the chakra of a member of the Shimizu Clan was unpredictable. It depended on the member's emotions to stay controllable.
Daichi knew he needed to calm down. He had to take control. But this situation didn't sit well with him.
"Sorry, but I can't do... That." A smile slowly stretched onto the cloaked man's face. "I need her chakra. Her... Blood."
And Daichi had never been more angry.
