Chapter 15☕
Hesitant

Sun was walking along the hall, patting his face with a towel as he came from a Sunday evening jog.
He stopped at Sonia's room as he saw the door open, her faced looked stressed as she held the nape of her neck.
"Hey." He said and caught her attention.
"Oh," She rested her hands on her lap, "You're back, how's the jog?"
"Good. You seem tense.." He pointed out.
"I slept so terribly last night that I got a stiff neck all day today." She chuckled as she scratched her head.
"Why didn't you say sooner?" He entered the room.

"No, no.. It's okay, really." She tried to reassure him but he saw through her lies. He did every time.
"Not true.." He gave her a stern look.
She looked down at her hands as a heat rushed to her brown cheeks.
"If you know you're not well, just tell me. I'll help you."
Am I transparent? Easy to read? How does he know what I want? She wondered to herself as she caved to his advances.
"Sorry, I just feel like I'm asking too much from you sometimes.."
"You can never ask too much from me." He smiled as he doused his hands with coconut oil.

He sat himself behind her and said, "Show me your shoulders."
Hesitantly, she dropped her satin bath robe a little lower. Her back and shoulders were now bare, and her hands were over her chest though he couldn't see.
She slightly jumped when his cold hands touched her tense shoulders, they relaxed as his fingers gently massaged them.
She let out a sigh as hands glided down her spine and trailed back up to her neck.

She closed her eyes in enjoyment as his gifted hands skillfully massage her shoulders. She didn't know if he hit a certain spot, but she felt weak all of a sudden. All the weight that sat on her shoulders were lifted, she felt light headed as she fell back onto his chest.

"Hey, you okay?" He asked with a soft tone and his eyes swirling with concern as he laid her down on the bed, his build looming over hers.
"Nothing, nothing.." She exhaled, opening her eyes. They were dangerously close, and as if that wasn't bad enough, her arms seemed to grow minds of their own as they wrapped around his neck and she pulled him in for a kiss.

Their lips didn't meet, in fact, Sun stopped her. Sonia was was left confused.

"Instead of sleeping with the pillow under your head, sleep with it under your knees. Like so," He took one of the pillows on the bed and tucked it under her knees. "Hope this helps, goodnight, Sonia."

"Good night..." She replied softly, her eyes followed as he got off the bed and left the room.

"And all that happened?" Asked Ezra.
"Yes."
"Last night?"
"Uh huh." Sonia nodded.
"Stockholm Syndrome."
"Girl, that's for people who are hostages." Sonia corrected her friend. Baffled she would come to such a conclusion.
"Well maybe it's your dependency on him. Ask yourself: Do I like him or do I like what he does for me?"
"I do appreciate what he's done for me— or maybe I'm just feeling lonely." She sighed. "Maybe it'll pass."
"Just wait. Don't bring this up to him at all."
"Yes we wait. Maybe it's an anxious attachment. Try doing things yourself, y'know. Build that independence back."
"I'll do that." Sonia can't get the thought out of her head that he thinks she's desperate and pathetic because of that night.
