Chapter 14☕
A Walk In The Park

Sun told her to get dressed, he didn't say what for but she did as he said and met him at the front door.
"That's what you're wearing?" Sun asked with a raised brow.
"What's wrong with it? Aren't we exercising?" She questioned awkwardly, sporting a grey hoodie and matching sweatpants.
"Sonia, I'm taking you out for a stroll."
"But you didn't say what for.." She sighed. "Give me five minutes, okay? Five minutes."
"Take all the time you need." Sun shoved his keys in his pockets as Sonia left to her room to change.

Sifting through her closet of luxurious unworn clothes bought by yours truly, she finally found something simple put pretty. A vibrant yellow sundress that laced-up back and ties behind the neck, paired with a brown leather sandals. She gave herself a look in the mirror, fixed her hair and set out to meet Sun at the door.

"You look wonderful." Sun was taken aback when he saw her, the dress cupped her breasts and flowed over her curves elegantly. Now he felt like he had to go change, all he wore was a light blue button up and slacks.
"Thank you. Would have looked better if I didn't need to use these." She gestured to the crutches she was holding on to.
He chuckled as he helped her outside and into his car.

"I thought we were going for a walk."
"A walk in the park not a walk to the park, it's a few blocks away."
"Oh okay."
"I know this," He gestured to his car, "is not what you're accustomed to.."
"I'm okay with it, honestly." She glanced over to the dashboard and saw a small resin photo of what looked to be a younger Sun with an older woman. "Oh, and who is this?"
"Khun mâe. My mother. Her name is Malee."
"Where is she?"
"She's at home, more up east of town."
"And you go to see her?"
"When I have the time, and she calls. A lot."
"Aww. "
"What about your parents?"
"They both passed.."
"Sorry."
"It's fine, really."

They finally reached the park, he parked off and led her by hand to the park. He thought she should try walking without it and she seemed to be making out pretty fine.
"Ice cream?" He pointed at the stand.
"Oh, sure.." She agreed.
"Two waffle cones, please. What flavor would you like?"
"Strawberry."
"And chocolate for me, please." He paid for them and led her to a wooden bench near a pond.

"Oh there's ducks, I would have brought some bread if I'd known." Sonia said as she licked her iced cream.
"I heard that's bad for them."
"Oh." She nodded. "They should have a sign up, not to feed the ducks."

Right before her eyes, she saw couples of every kind holding hands and being affectionate to one another. Some of them even had children, a byproduct of their love.

Sonia realized how lonely she actually was, and how much she missed being held and loved by someone. A feeling of sorrow loomed over her weak conscience as she averted her gaze to a bee pollinating a bush of wild flowers.

"It hurts, doesn't it?"

How did he know that? Did she make it so obvious or was he just good at reading people?

"I always ask myself what did I do wrong to deserve that. It just doesn't make sense to me-"

Sun reassuringly placed his arm around her shoulders. "You're a beautiful lady, anyone would be glad to have you in their life, Sonia."
