*Nicole's POV

I ran down the dark alley, away from the four who were chasing me. My eyes stung and began to blur thanks to tears forming from fear. I grew tired and leaned against a wall, for a mere second, to catch my breath. Big mistake. For in that time, the four had caught up to me. I went to run, but I'd been cornered.

They formed a makeshift circle, trapping me in the center. Their eyes glowed bright in the darkness of the alley, and haunting growls fell from their lips. My sobs became louder as they stepped closer to me, making the circle smaller with each step.

"Please..." I begged "I just want to go home. What do you want from me?"

And the tan one replied, "Your blood."

Sharp fangs harshly bit into my cold skin, draining all the blood from my body.

I gasped as I woke up, a fresh layer of sweat coating my skin. Sitting up, I noticed the boys still huddled on my bed. I took a few deep breaths to calm myself down, after wiping fresh tears from my cheeks and sweat from my forehead.

Still a bit shaken from my dream; I peeled myself away from the boys and crept out of my room.

I just need fresh air.

I quietly walked down the stairs, and towards the front door. The doorknob felt cold against my palm as I turned it to open the door. And I ignored the goosebumps that formed on my skin as I walked to the edge of the porch and sat on the steps.

Little glimpses of my vivid dream reappeared in my mind and I closed my eyes, sighing loudly.

I just want to forget it. The boys would never do anything like that.

I brought my hands to my face and gently rubbed them against my skin. I pushed some hair behind my ears and rested my head on my knees.

Vampires? Really? What the hell and why me? What if this is all one big dream, what if I got hit by a car and got sent into a coma? I mean, vampires, come on. I could be asleep, and any moment I'll wake up back in my lonely, boring life, where I don't have four, amazingly attractive, supernatural creatures falling head over heels for me. Okay, my current situation sounds a lot better than that. But is it real?

I sit up straight and cross my arms, rubbing them slightly, creating friction and heat. After sitting for a long time, in only a pair of cotton shorts and a tattered shirt, I began to shiver. But I didn't really mind. I wasn't ready to go back inside yet. I ended up crossing my legs, resting my elbows on my knees and leaning my head against my palms. I stared out into the sky to look at the stars.

After what the boys told me about being their mate, and what would happen if they don't turn me... I guess I really can't go back to my old life. But I barely know these guys, yet I'm going to let them turn me into a vampire and I'm going to live the rest of my undead life with them. If anyone besides Micheal could read my thoughts, they'd think I was insane!

I nearly jumped out of my skin when a blanket was wrapped around my shoulders. I looked up to see Michael smiling down at me.

"It's cold out here, sweetheart." Micheal said quietly, and I blushed at the pet name. Hopefully he didn't see.

"I uh, I needed some air. I had a nightmare." I admitted. It was only then I noticed Michael was shirtless, his legs, that were clad in a pair of loose sweatpants, were sprawled out in front of him as he leaned back against his hands. I could only see faintly in the dark, but I could make out a few tattoos on his right arm.

"Aren't you cold?" I asked as I adjusted the blanket he'd placed on my shoulders.

He only chuckled, "I'm still a vampire, baby. We don't get cold. And don't forget I can read your mind, so I know all about that nightmare you had."

"Oh." I mumbled, looking down a little bit.

"You're safe here, I hope you know that. The last thing we want to do is hurt you." Michael clarified, which caused me to smile a little. It was a nice thing to hear, that someone cared about me, it'd been a while.

"Thank you..." I whispered. I turned my head and found that Micheal was already looking at me, with a bit of a questionable look on his face.

"For the blanket... and everything else." I mumbled.

"You're welcome, sweetheart." He smiled.

"Come on. Let's go back inside, you're probably freezing." He said, mumbling the last bit. He stood and offered his hand, which I took. When I stood, he didn't let go of my hand, he only laced his fingers with mine and led me back inside and back up to my room. Once there we settled back into my bed and I was able to get warm again.

Micheal kissed my cheek once before I drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
