14. Texting

Peeta's POV. 

I hear my alarm going off and my eyes shoot open. I turn my head and look at my alarm clock. 

Nine am. I groan and cover my head with my pillow. My alarm continues to blare, and I start to get annoyed very, very fast. I sit up and reach my arm across the dresser and slam my fist onto the alarm clock. 

I hear a shatter and look over at my dresser and see my alarm clock in pieces. 

Shit. Now I have to buy another one. I groan and get out of bed. I hear my phone go off and a text from Haymitch pops up, and two other messages from two random numbers. 

I look at the other messages and I don't recognize the numbers. 

The first one says 'Hey best friend, its Adrien, I'm coming to help in the bakery today, see you at ten am.'

I smile. My best friend, my bro Adrien, since birth. Hés a real one, always stood by me when no one else did. 

I reply back, 'sounds good bro, see you then'.

I go into the messages and save the contact as bro. 

I swipe out and go into Haymitch contact and read his long message. 

'Goodmorning, a couple of pointers today. One, be at the bakery by ten am sharp, Adrien is going to come be with you all day to keep you company and help run the store full time with you. Two, your nurse will be over today around six pm to help with your medicine and therapy talk tonight. Three, today you are able to see Katniss between eight pm and ten pm, why a curfew you ask? You need to take it slow, go at a nice pace so you don't affect your wired mind, once time goes by and you don't flip out then we can up the time frames. Besides the point, have a beautiful day and I will see you tonight at ten pm.'

I sigh, I hate this, I get it that Haymitch wants me to be okay and not slip up to where I get sent back to the capitol and... hurt Katniss by accident, but I will not let myself get that far, I can never ever my Katniss. Three strikes are all I got. I don't even want to make one and I won't. I can't go with all these rules all the time, I might get worse, I need to Katniss more than just two hours of the day, but to keep Haymitch happy and me here with her then that's what I will have to do.

I look at the third message and I go into the chat and read the message.

'Goodmorning, I hope you have a great first day at the bakery, can't wait to see you later, love Katniss :)'

I Instantly smile, one text from her just made my whole day. I can't stop smiling. I really love this girl. She really is my whole heart. 

I reply back to her, 'Goodmorning :), thank you for that, you just boosted my confidence big time, and I can't wait to see you.'

I smile and press send. As soon as I go to throw my phone on my bed to get ready, I hear my phone go off again. I smile and reach for my phone. I open my phone and see a message from Katniss. 

'I'm glad that I can do that for you, makes me smile and can eight pm come faster:(.'

I smile and respond, 'I know right, it's so far away! and you always make me smile Katniss.'

I press send and instantly see the bubbles pop up to her responding. I smile. Is this how it's going to be, texting Katniss all day every day? I don't mind but I would rather be sitting in front of her, maybe holding her hand and cuddling. 

I hear my phone ding and read the message from Katniss. 

'Look out your window'

I furrow my eyebrows and go over to my window. I look outside and without even thinking look at Katniss house. I see her in the window and Shes smiling waving. I wave back and smile. I hear my phone ding and read the message from Katniss.

'You look sweet as ever right now'.

I blush and respond, 'why thank you, you look beautiful as ever, well you always do'

I smile and press send. It's true, Katniss is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. Nothing can ever compare to her. I look at Katniss through my window and seeing her smiling while looking down at her phone. I look down at my phone and read the new message.

'Thank you for making me blush and smile for the third time today.'

I smile. I look back out the window and see Katniss looking at me smiling. I look back down at my phone and reply to her. 

'Anything to make you smile.'

I press send and look at her and watch her smile and do the most adorable dance I have ever seen. Seeing her this happy makes me forget that I have to go to work and makes me forget that I had bad things happened to me. I feel different when I'm with Katniss, I feel myself, I feel whole again and that's a feeling I never want to lose. 

I hear my phone again and look down at the messages, 

'You have no idea how long I've been waiting to see you again and see your smile, i missed you so much Peeta.'

I smile and turn my back to the window. I didn't want her to see me do a happy dance too. She really does love me. 

When Adrien and I were younger we made a list of what girls do when they are in love with you, for one, they text you like crazy, check. Two, they smile at everything, check. Three, they remind you of everything and always give you reassurance, Check. 

I'm the luckiest man right now I can say.

 'My dear Katniss, I don't think you understand how happy and whole you make me feel, I feel powerful when I see you smile and so much more, you're amazing.'

I press send and smile. I see the bubbles and see her message. 

'I love you so much Peeta, have a great day, I will see you tonight.'

I smile and feel a tear run down my cheek. She said it, she said it again. I back away from the window and do a little happy dance, this is the best day ever. I am Peeta Mellark, I am becoming myself again and I am working on getting better and with Katniss, I can do that. I text her one last message before I head to work. 

'I love you more Katniss, always.'
