Jaymes took a deep breath as the girl before her had clocked a 4.3 second time.

Even though she had done this multiple times before, the stakes were higher, and that made her slightly nervous.

Swinging her loop over her shoulder, she calmy walked in with Tex, who had his head forward and his ears alert, clearly anticipating it.

"Contestant number 216, this is a Sapulpa cowgirl. Trick rider, Jaymes Reid. Alright, Jaymes, show 'em what you got." The announcer spoke in a loud, clear voice.

They walked into the box, all eyes on them as Jaymes backed Tex into the corner with remembered ease.

The pusher kept his eyes trained on her from his position in the chute. With an impatient Tex starting to wiggle, signaling he was ready, Jaymes nodded tightly.

The calf raced out of the chute, but Tex was quick. The second felt like hours as Jaymes swung her loop for the second time.

With a final swing, she let the rope go and quickly pulled Tex back.

Tyler watched as Jaymes took a deep breath in the box, which he could tell, effectively cleared her mind.

"C'mon, Jaymie," he murmured as Kathy put a hand on his shoulder.

She nodded, and the calf flew out, Tex right on his tail.

Swing after swing, Tyler held his breath.

Suddenly, Tex pulled back and came to a sudden stop, kicking dust up all around them.

A white rag came flying off her saddle horn as the black calf had something white around its neck.

Seeing this, Tyler jumped up, his arms raised in the air as he cheered out loudly.

The audience followed him, cheering and clapping, staying in their seats, though, as Jaymes let out a sigh of relief.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is the fastest time tonight. Jaymes, you're gonna like it. A 2.3 second run!"

Boone, Javi, and a few others cheered even louder at the news.

Jaymes patted Tex all the way out of the arena and immediately loosened his cinches as they walked back to the trailer. With Tyler, Boone, and Javi not too far behind them.

About two hours later, Saige was saddled for pole bending. Jaymes still didn't know if she placed for breakaway, but she was feeling pretty confident about it.

Jaymes saddled her and was now putting in her breast collar. She was choosing between a teal and white one or a teal and black one.

She decided to go with the black and teal one, just because it would match with her sport boots and the saddle pad better.
