It was a lovely Thursday afternoon.
Light rain throughout the day, the sun going in and out behind the clouds. A small chill in the air where you would need a cardigan but not cold where you felt like you were going to freeze.
Will was looking out of his window while his partner for this case was driving. They were on the way back to the station after questioning a suspect for their homicide case. After a few more moments of silence the pair saw something from the corner of their eyes.
Looking to their left, they saw three officers running down a hill towards the playground after what looked to be Santa on a kids motorbike.
"What in the...." Detective Karadec started to say before looking back onto the road.
"Lets go have a look" Detective Bradford said while still watching the three officers run around the playground trying to stop the man dressed as Santa.
"We need to get back to the station," Karadec said while still looking back and forth between the playground and the road.
"Come on this wouldn't take long and we could use a good laugh" Will said while still watching.
After a few seconds of silence, Karadec gave in to his curiosity and turned to pull into the parking lot where they found three petrol vehicles and three officers standing next to each other watching from the top of the hill.
As they parked next to the last petrol vehicle the officers turned to look who it was that arrived. Detective Bradford recognised the officers as Lopez, Bishop and his older brother.
"What's going on here?" Will asked the group once he was out of the car before getting a Muesli bar out of his blazer pocket to eat.
"Mike Small, had a BOLO for his arrest since Monday. West and Lopez spotted him with a stolen vehicle off Olympic and 10th" Bishop said, turning towards the two detectives before turning back.
"BOLO for what?" Detective Karadec asked, watching the three rookies trying to block Santa in but failed.
"Assault and battery, attempted kidnapping of a 35 year old man and now..." Officer Lopez said before Detective Bradford interrupted.
"Impersonating Santa Claus, wrong time of year to try to blend in" he said while taking another bite of his Muesli.
"Oh, sorry forget to make introductions. Officers Angela Lopez, Talia Bishop and Tim Bradford. Detective Adam Karadec" Will said, pointing to each officer.
"Bradford, you must be the older brother then" Karadec said after shaking each of their hands.
"That's me, sorry you've been assigned to this idiot." Tim said while smirking towards his little brother.
"Ha ha" Will said while turning to look back at the rookies who had managed to get Santa off the kids motorbike but were now running around the playground.
"At least it's not my rookie running around the playground with Santa" Will continued to say watching as the older rookie of the three tackled Santa into the sand pit.
"What time will you be at mine tomorrow?" Tim asked turning towards his brother after the rookies arrested the runaway santa and were making their way back to their TO's.
"Tomorrow?" Will said, more to himself.
"You forgot, didn't you?" Tim asked, recognising the look Will had.
"Maybe"
"The bike ride with the boys, you were the one who recommended the national park"
"Right, yes. The bike ride. Who was going again?"
