KASHISH
After a week-long vacation, Ranvijay and I returned to Pune for our wedding. I never imagined I would marry Ranvijay again, but destiny had its own plans.
We always end up with the ones who are made for us. Ranvijay and I were made for each other, and being together felt like a dream come true.
One week passed, and finally, today was our Haldi function, with Mehndi in the evening, and the next day, wedding.
Last time, we had done every ritual as a duty, but this time, everything had changed. We had already completed the Kuldevta Pooja before starting the wedding rituals, and now, Ranvijay and I were sitting, surrounded by family members, for the haldi function.
The air smelled of turmeric and roses. I wore a yellow lahenga, and my dupatta was pinned over one shoulder, but I knew it wouldn't stay that way for long. Haldi functions had a reputation for getting messy, and I wasn't naïve enough to think I'd escape it.
I wore floral jewelry made by Aaji, with pure lilies, mogra, and a few rose petals. Aaji was old but creative. And I was looking beautiful. Rock 'n' roll music was playing in the background.
When my eyes found Ranvijay, my heart did its usual long jump. He was sitting beside me, wearing a yellow kurta, with enough buttons open to give me a view of his sexy torso.
"Stop staring at me," I muttered, but he shook his head. He was doing eye thing, and I was trying hard to avoid his gaze before my cheeks turned red.
"Someone's blushing," Riya teased, and everyone laughed. "Focus on the function, lovebirds." I moved my eyes from Ranvijay.
The ceremony began with Aaji, who was holding a bowl of turmeric paste. "Here," she said, dipping her fingers into the paste and gently applying it to my cheeks and arms.
"May this haldi glow on your skin like Ranvijay's love," she said, making me blush. And then she applied the haldi to Ranvijay's cheeks as well.
One by one, the others took their turn, applying turmeric onto my skin. "Riya!" I squealed with laughter. Riya, this bitch, couldn't resist messing with my nose by smearing haldi on it.
"What?" she shrugged innocently. "It's tradition. Besides, you look adorable with yellow nose." She giggled. Ranvijay laughed at me, making me sigh.
"And you look hot with yellow cheeks, dude," Siddhartha said, rubbing a generous amount of haldi on Ranvijay's cheeks. The tables turned, and I finally got the chance to laugh at him as his army friends ganged up on him, smearing turmeric all over his face and arms.
"Guys, this is supposed to be a blessing, not a full-blown attack," Ranvijay grinded his teeth.
"His torso is still left," Arjun instructed from behind, with mischievous grin. "I'll kill you later," Ranvijay shot him a deadly glare, but Arjun smirked.
Who said the Army was full of gentlemen? Look at them-they were attacking Ranvijay as if they were still in a warzone. I hadn't expected his military buddies to come, but they'd all showed up.
"Stop complaining, Lit Colonel," Devaj retorted. "You're the groom." Despite the harsh treatment they gave to Ranvijay, they touched me as if I was a soft feather. Gentlemen, of course.
Our faces and half of our bodies were covered in turmeric paste. Besides the dance performances, Ranvijay and I burst into laughter as Arjun and Isha performed a short play about our love story, with Arjun taking on Ranvijay's role and Isha playing mine. Everyone laughed so hard because Arjun's acting was so accurate.
