Naga ran off with Asami and Bolin. Korra watched until she couldn't see them anymore. She knows Bolin and Naga will protect her, but she can't keep her thoughts on Asami for too long, or she'll let the worry consume her.
"The airbenders are on their way. Varrick's devices helped locate you guys. Lin will show them the entrance when they arrive." Mako informed Korra.
"What's the plan, Avatar?" Kuvira asked.
"We go back, fight off those who get in our way, but don't hurt them. They're hurting and grieving. They're just afraid," Korra explained.
Mako scoffed, "Yet, they kidnapped you and threatened Asami for weeks."
Korra sighed, "I know, but.. . . just trust me. They built a machine similar to the one Kuvira did before, just smaller. They want me to merge its energy with my avatar state, to try and open a new portal."
"Why? What good would another portal into the spirit world be?" Kuvira questioned.
"They want me to try and open a portal that leads to a new dimension, or a new. . . universe? Or both? I don't know, but their leader, Sun, made it abundantly clear that if I didn't do it, he would do something crazy," Korra said. "He said they just want a fresh start, and I get it, but I don't think this is the way."
"Of course, this isn't the way. He's using violence as a means to get what he wants," Mako stated increduously.
Kuvira smirked, "Been there."
Mako glared at her.
"There they are!" A voice shouted.
Korra rolled her neck, "You guys ready?"
"Always," Kuvira responded, getting in position.
"I've got your back," Mako told her.
They started to fight, making sure not to harm anyone in the process, and trying their best to back Sun's crew up so they could make it to the machine.
"Korra, duck!" A fireball flew over her head, straight toward the person in front of her, and Korra used her airbending to spread out the flames to back them up more. Some of them fell back, scurrying back into a formation of sorts, trying to keep fighting.
Kuvira used the rocks around them, making the cave more condensed in size, forcing the group to close in on each other, and not having enough space to continue their approach. Sun's crew was bumping into each other, not bending formally, at least not the way most benders do.
"It's like they barely know what they're doing," Kuvira stated, standing up straight.
"Because they don't, these people aren't fighters," Korra told her, turning to face them, "We don't want to hurt you! We just want to get back to the machine!" Korra shouted out, wishing they'd surrender already.
"We were told to immobilize you before we brought you back," A woman said confidently.
Korra shook her head, "You're all going to get yourselves hurt."
"We're following orders!" A man shouted getting back in a fighting stance.
"I don't have time for this," Korra said, forming a sphere of air, and pushing it toward them as hard as she could without causing serious injury. Sun's fighters, flew back several yards and Korra took that as the perfect opportunity to advance.
They ran past the crew, easily fighting off anyone who got in their way, heading back into the larger cave where Korra was taken the first time. When they got there, the twenty people Sun sent away to Varricks lab were back, and she groaned internally watching Sun who was standing in the middle of the group, head held high.
