The F1 season had come to a close, marking Nico’s Last season as a driver for Haas after signing with Audi. Nico had done an amazing job, scoring points consistently. Watching from the sidelines, Kevin couldn’t have been prouder. Ollie, the rookie who had stepped into Kevins old seat for the season's latter half, had impressed everyone with his talent and poise, making Haas a stronger team than ever.

As the holidays approached, the Magnussen-Hülkenberg household buzzed with festive energy. Kevin had always loved Christmas, but this year felt extra special. It was their first as a family, and with Helena now 8 months old and more curious than ever, the house was alive with joy.

The tree stood proudly in the corner of their living room, decked out with ornaments from all over the world—many gifted by the F1 drivers over the past few months. Tiny baubles in the shape of race cars hung alongside traditional pieces. Lando’s contribution—a gaudy, glittery McLaren-orange ornament—hung prominently in the center, much to Nico’s quiet amusement.

Helena, now a wobbly but determined crawler, was utterly fascinated by the shiny decorations. She kept scooting toward the tree, giggling mischievously every time she managed to grab a low-hanging ornament. Her tiny hands always seemed drawn to anything she could shake or rattle.

Nico, sitting on the couch with Helena balanced on his lap, grinned as she made a grab for his Santa hat. “She’s going to destroy this tree before Christmas even gets here,” he joked, his voice full of warmth.

Kevin chuckled from the kitchen, where he was carefully icing Christmas cookies. “Well, she gets it from you. You’re the one who said we needed a ‘real tree, or it doesn’t count.’”

“She deserves a real Christmas,” Nico shot back, smirking.

Helena squealed happily, waving the Santa hat she had successfully stolen. Nico just shook his head, his expression softening as he kissed the top of her fluffy blond hair.

The day itself was cozy and intimate. In the morning, they exchanged gifts, with Helena getting the lion’s share of presents from her doting parents. Plush toys, tiny books, and baby clothes were scattered all over the living room. Nico had picked out a miniature wooden race car for her, painstakingly hand-painted in Haas colors, while Kevin gifted her a personalized blanket embroidered with her name.

“Don’t think you’re off the hook,” Kevin teased, handing Nico a neatly wrapped box.

Nico raised an eyebrow and tore the paper off to reveal a silver photo frame. Inside was a picture of the three of them from Helena’s first trip to the paddock—Helena snug in her baby carrier, Kevin beaming, and Nico grinning like he’d just won another podium.

“It’s perfect,” Nico said, his voice thick with emotion as he leaned over to kiss Kevin.

Later that afternoon, after their small family celebration, they packed up to visit their parents. Nico had insisted on splitting the time evenly between the Hülkenbergs and the Magnussens, which meant a whirlwind trip between Germany and Denmark.

Their first stop was Germany. Nico’s family welcomed them with open arms, his mother practically swooping Helena out of Kevin’s hands the moment they walked through the door.

“She’s so big already!” Mrs. Hülkenberg exclaimed, bouncing Helena on her hip. “And those cheeks—just like Nico’s when he was a baby.”

Nico groaned. “Mum, please don’t embarrass me.”

His father, though quieter, beamed as he held his granddaughter for the first time. “She’s beautiful,” he said softly, his large hands cradling Helena with surprising gentleness.
