The next morning, Nico and Kevin sat Helena down in the living room. The little girl sat cross-legged on the carpet, clutching her favorite stuffed bunny as she looked up at them with wide, curious eyes.
Kevin smiled and knelt down to her level. "Helena, we gotta tell you something really special," he said softly, brushing her hair away from her face.
Her eyes lit up with excitement. "Special? Like ice cream?"
Nico chuckled, sitting next to Kevin. "Even better than ice cream," he said, his voice warm. "It's a big surprise."
Helena tilted her head, her tiny fingers fidgeting with the bunny's ears. "Big... like a scooter?"
Kevin laughed, shaking his head. "Not a scooter, no. But it's something even better." He placed a hand on his stomach and gave her a meaningful look. "You're gonna be a big sister. There's a baby growing in Papa's tummy."
Her little mouth dropped open, and she blinked a few times as if trying to make sense of the words. "Baby? In Papa?"
"Yes, sweetheart," Nico said, smiling as he leaned closer. "There's a baby in here," he added, pointing gently to Kevin's stomach. "And you're going to be a big sister soon."
For a moment, she didn't say anything. Then, suddenly, her face broke into the biggest smile, and she squealed, jumping to her feet. "Baby! I have baby!"
Kevin couldn't help but laugh as she threw her tiny arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. "That's right, sweetie. You're gonna have a baby brother or sister."
Helena pulled back, her eyes sparkling. "I love baby! I share toys! Bunny, too!"
Nico chuckled, reaching out to pull her into his lap. "That's so sweet, Helena. But we need to tell you something important, okay?"
"What?" she asked, tilting her head.
"This is a secret for now," Kevin said gently. "You can't tell anyone yet. Not Uncle Charles, not Uncle Max, not anyone. Just us, okay?"
Her little face scrunched up in confusion. "Why secret?"
Nico kissed her forehead. "Because we want to tell everyone when the time is right. It's like a surprise, and surprises are more fun when they're kept quiet, right?"
Helena seemed to think hard about this, her lips pursing. "Okay... but I tell Bunny?"
Kevin laughed, nodding. "Yes, you can tell Bunny. But no one else. Promise?"
She nodded solemnly, clutching her bunny tighter. "Promise!"
"Good girl," Nico said, hugging her close.
Helena grinned, then looked at Kevin's stomach, reaching out to pat it gently. "Hi, baby!" she said, her voice soft and full of wonder. "I teach you scoot!"
Nico and Kevin exchanged warm smiles, their hearts melting as Helena's excitement filled the room. Their little family was growing, and they couldn't wait for the next chapter together.
-----
Two days. That's how long Helena managed to keep the secret.
It all started innocently enough as Nico and Kevin brought her to the paddock for another weekend visit. Dressed in her tiny team gear, complete with a little cap, clutching her stuffed bunny.
Everything was going fine until they bumped into Max, Lando, and Charles near the hospitality area.
"Hey, troublemaker!" Lando grinned, crouching down to her level. "What chaos are you up to today?"
Helena beamed, shuffling over to him before stopping right in front of Kevin. Without any hesitation, she reached out and patted Kevin's stomach with her tiny hand. "Baby!"
The drivers froze. Max blinked, looking genuinely confused. "Wait, what?"
Charles tilted his head, his eyes darting to Kevin's face for confirmation. "Baby? Like... really?"
Kevin's face turned a deep shade of red as he looked down at Helena, who was now grinning proudly, clearly pleased with herself. "Helena..." he said, his voice a mix of amusement and exasperation.
Nico rubbed his face with one hand, trying not to laugh. "So much for the secret."
Lando, on the other hand, looked utterly delighted. "Oh my God, are you serious?" His gaze shifted to Kevin's stomach, his expression lighting up. "No way! You're pregnant again?"
Max, still processing, leaned back against the wall. "Okay, that explains the still no-racing thing," he muttered, a rare, soft smile forming on his face.
"Yup!" Helena said proudly, still patting Kevin's stomach. "Baby in Papa! I big sister!"
Kevin groaned but couldn't help laughing. "Well, I guess the cat's out of the bag now."
Charles stepped closer, his smile gentle. "Congratulations, you two," he said, his voice warm. "That's amazing news."
"Yeah, congrats!" Lando added, already leaning in to offer Kevin a careful hug. "And Helena, you're gonna be the best big sister ever."
Helena nodded seriously, clutching her bunny. "I share toys," she announced confidently.
Max chuckled, stepping forward to ruffle her hair. "You're gonna do great, kid." Then he looked at Kevin and Nico, his expression softening. "You guys must be so excited."
Kevin smiled, a hand resting protectively over his stomach. "Yeah, we are. Just... wasn't planning on announcing it quite like this."
Nico wrapped an arm around Kevin, pulling him close. "It's fine," he said, his tone reassuring. "This is our paddock family. They'd find out eventually."
Helena, apparently satisfied with how the conversation was going, skipped off to chase after Lando, leaving the adults to share a laugh. Despite the unexpected reveal, the moment felt right.
The news spread quickly after that, but instead of feeling overwhelmed, Kevin and Nico found themselves surrounded by love and support. And every time Helena proudly introduced herself as a "big sister," they couldn't help but smile, knowing their little family was already so cherished.
