Dasuki State, Nigeria.

2023.

Maria entered the room, holding up a designer dress with an infectious grin. "What do you think of this one?"

I couldn't help but exclaim, "Oh my God! It's perfect! Absolutely amazing!"

I was at Aunty Nana's, spending time with Maria before she left tomorrow. I had also brought along the cute gifts I'd gotten for my namesake—Zayyana's daighter, as they live in the same estate.

Maria beamed, twirling the dress. "What do you think? We could shop for more clothes online, I've got Imran's card in my bag. I'll just tell him the baby wanted me to have new clothes."

I pouted, "I envy you. You've got a baby to blame for everything."

She laughed heartily, "Come on, let's do some shopping!"

"Well," I smirked, "Good thing I know Nabeel's card details."

---

Nabeel's POV

I sat frozen, staring at my phone screen, disbelief slowly crawling over me as the alerts came in—forty million Naira spent on Hermes, Chanel, Bulgari, Gucci, Zara, Adidas. But I couldn't remember making any of these purchases.

Another alert flashed: five hundred thousand Naira spent at a jewelry store—also online.

Umaimah, It had to be her.

No one spends as recklessly as a wife who knows her husband is wrapped around her fingers. If she could spend like this, I had to make sure I earned enough to never limit her. I was going to provide her with the happiness she deserved, no matter the cost. If it meant this lifestyle, then so be it.

Let her be delulu all she wants, actually not delulu—because I'll turn it into her reality whatever it is.

Good thing i have multiple ways of income let her spend all she wants, I don't mind it.

I dialed Abba's number. He picked up on the third ring.

"Good day, Abba," I greeted.

"Good day, Nabeel. How are you? And how is my daughter?" Abba asked, his voice warm.

We exchanged pleasantries before I finally got to the point.

"Abba, I've thought about what you said. I want to join the company. It seems Yazid will need a helping hand, and you can finally retire."

Abba laughed—loud and hearty. "You've finally changed your mind, or did someone make you do it?"

Not someone, but someone's actions made me change my mind.

I had my hands full managing the restaurant, traveling the world for my poetry, and I won't mind working in the oil industry. It was all lucrative, but another source of income wouldn't hurt. For Umaimah, I'd do anything.

---

I walked home that evening after managing the restaurant. As I entered the house, the familiar scent of home embraced me, but something was off. Umaimah wasn't there to greet me with her usual warmth.

I found her inside her bedroom trying the jewelries i suppose she bought earlier.

"There you are, Mrs Shamaki." I said enveloping her from the back feeling the warmth of my wife .

She smiled at me ridding the necklace from her neck. "Don't you have anything to say?"

"Do you want me to say anything?" I ask knowing fully well what she was referring to.
