Calem's POV
"I have done my part, Malva.", I said as I bowed my head.
"Good. I will now entrust you with another task.", she said in the loud, menacing voice she always has.
"What is it?"
"Lead the attack on Lumiose.", she ordered. "I trust that you will be able to do it."
"Of course.", I answered. "I will need some reinforcements. Lumiose is the biggest prize, after all."
"Who specifically?"
"Oh, you know me. Send Guerre and Paix. They should be enough."
"Very well. I will call the others."
"Understood.", I said as she hung up the phone.
Three days.
That would be the time left before we begin the attack.
It was delightful.
Ever since Marina was claimed by that illness of hers, I had changed. I'd become more unhinged, more violent. I grew to like others' suffering.
Schadenfreude, as they called it.
My experience in Flare had only advanced it. But this time, it was needed for my job.
"Admin, your attention is needed at this moment.", I suddenly heard Mariana say.
"What is it?"
"Our agents have lost track of Ketchum."
My blood boiled at that sentence. He had been the lynchpin in my plan to circumvent Lumiose's defences, especially the improvements made by the Gym Leader.
The Gym Leader.
My eyes suddenly widened.
"If I capture those two, that takes down the strongest trainers of two cities.", I told my secretary. "Focus on the Gym Leader. Knowing Ketchum, he would probably turn up."
"I see.", she replied.
Soon, we heard a knock on the door.
"We're here, boss.", Guerre called.
"Good. I need you to do something for me."
"What is it?"
"Guerre, you invade the Power Plant. It will be needed."
"Understood.", he said.
"Paix, follow the Gym Leader. When Guerre cuts off the power, do anything to take him here. We need both of them gone."
"Yes, I'm certainly capable of doing that.", she replied.
"Very well. Both of you, go now. We cannot waste any time."
The two quickly moved out. Prism Tower will fall soon enough. When that happens, Team Flare would have already won.
I took the time I had to visit Marina in the hospital. I wanted to see her one more time before we conducted the mission. There was a certain foreboding feeling in me that I would not see her again.
I bought some flowers along the way. It was our anniversary, after all. It was now the fourth time I had to celebrate alone, but it didn't matter to me. She was my one true love.
"Hello, Calem.", her sister greeted.
"Uh, hi, Amandine.", I replied awkwardly. "Sorry for what I did last time."
"Oh, it's fine. Honestly, I forgot about it.", she said. "Looks like you brought flowers again, huh?"
"Yeah. It's her favourite colour."
