The pounding in my head was relentless, like a drumbeat I couldn't escape. I groaned as I rolled over, blinking against the light streaming through the window. My mouth was dry, and my body felt like it had been put through a blender.
When I finally sat up, I realized I wasn't in my own room. The clean, minimalist décor, the faint scent of Nick's cologne lingering in the air—it all clicked. I was in Nick's penthouse.
Dragging myself out of bed, I shuffled to the bathroom and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. My hair was a tangled mess, mascara smudged beneath my eyes, and my skin looked dull. "Great," I muttered to myself. I splashed cold water on my face and decided I'd deal with the rest later.
As I stepped out into the living area, the faint smell of food hit me, and my stomach growled. My eyes landed on Nick, standing in the kitchen. He was shirtless, wearing those damn grey sweatpants that hung low on his hips, and his headphones were on as he moved around the stove. I couldn't even focus on my headache for a second because, honestly, the man was a walking thirst trap.
Shaking my head, I walked up behind him and poked his back. He jumped slightly, pulling off his headphones and turning around with a soft smile. "Good morning, Angel," he greeted, his voice low and warm.
I groaned in response, rubbing my temples. "My head is killing me."
He chuckled, moving past me to grab a glass of water and a small bottle from the counter. "Here, take these," he said, handing me the medicine and water. "And this," he added, holding up a jar of what looked like a green concoction, "is Theo's special hangover drink. He left it here after the last time you girls went out. Said it works miracles."
I eyed the drink suspiciously. "What's in it?"
"No clue. But it's Theo, so probably something weird but effective."
Reluctantly, I took a sip, grimacing at the taste. "Ugh. Remind me to yell at him later."
Nick smirked and leaned against the counter, crossing his arms. "You'll feel better in no time. You were on a different level last night, though."
I squinted at him. "What exactly happened?"
"You really don't remember?" he asked, a teasing glint in his eyes.
I shook my head, already dreading the answer.
"Well," he began, "Dio bribed the bouncers to get you all into the club. Then, you decided tequila shots were your best friend. Somewhere along the way, you punched a guy twice your size for messing with Lia—good for you, by the way. But after that, it was pure chaos. Dom had to help me get you out of there because you kept insisting you could drive even though you could barely walk."
I groaned again, burying my face in my hands. "Kill me now."
"Not a chance," he said with a laugh, stepping closer to press a kiss to the top of my head. "Besides, you're gonna need your strength. We're leaving for France tonight."
