"This is somewhere to be."
The way he said things annoyed me. We were talking in circles.
I didn't speak for a while not because I was trying to annoy him.
I just didn't know what to say.
So suddenly, he said, "Let's go!" at the same time he stood up.
I looked up again bewildered. I thought he was crazy if he thought I was coming anywhere with a practical stranger.
I told him so.
All he said was, "What have you gotta lose?"
"Uhm, my life?"
"I'm telling you now. I'm not a killer."
I looked at him with an incredulous face. Like his promise meant anything to me.
"Look," he started.
"You said you have nowhere to go to, right? Well, why not go with me?"
I could have told him so many things. There were so many reasons, rational ones at that.
I don't what it was that made me do it. I think maybe I was done with the solitude or maybe I wanted to prove to myself that he's no different. That doesn't matter now though. What matters is that I stood up and told him, "Lead the way."
