I met his mom next.
I noticed her in the kitchen when we passed by it towards the living room.
Her back was to me and her head was bouncing up and down. Suddenly, she turned around and saw me looking. The smile that broke out on her face made me feel as welcome as her husband's hug did. She wiped her hand on the apron as she started walking towards me and saying, "Oh hello there!"
When she was finally in front of me, her smile got impossibly bigger, said "Kath, right?" and then dove in for a hug.
This people certainly have no personal space. Ironically, the feeling is not unpleasant.
I quite like it.
Especially her son's version of no personal space allowed.
And then I froze in her embrace when the realization hit me.
I like him.
It was that moment, in the arms of his mother, with my back to him and my eyes seeing their backyard with an enormous tree house, was my moment.
The moment I knew that I like you.
