Cortana kept trying to do her best but the suit she was in needed desperate repairs and right now she doesn't know when she's going to get them. "I can barely get anyone on the horn. Our Nav is spotty at best. But we're close to the air base."
"Good." The grizzled Spartan said with a sigh. He needed to get back to the clones and help out again. Even if he had to go without armor he would.
His attention was taken by the sounds of intense blaster fire. He saw the air base up ahead and thought the worse.
"Chief get moving! I'll see what I can figure out!"
The Master Chief ran forward. He ignored the pains and aches. He fought through his suit malfunctions. He kept his stolen blaster close to him as he looked for the threat.
"Chief I see 501st and 212th here. Why the hell would they be...Chief!"
"I see him." He said, seeing the uncompassionate General running through the clones, slicing through them without a second thought before running into the dense flora where Chief was. He ran to intercept.
Pong Krell stopped and looked dead at the non-clone. "Master Chief! The clones have betrayed us! We must fall back and pick them off!"
As the Spartan and Jedi looked at eachother, Cortana smirked as a thought occurred. 'Chief knows three ways to react to people. If you're a superior officer, he obeyed you. If you're in his squad, he would die for you. And if you were a threat, then good luck.
But what if you were a superior but a threat to those he was close with?'
Chief then jumped backwards and started rapid firing at Pong Krell who quickly blocked every shot.
'Guess that answers that.' Cortana thought. "Give him hell Chief!"
Pong Krell growled before he retreated deeper into the woods. The Spartan ran in, not waiting for anyone to catch up, hoping to do most of the fighting.
Even though his suit wasn't in much condition to fight and his body was damaged, he was still able to stay on Krell's heels before he jumped into the trees and disappeared.
Damm it.
Chief raised his blaster up and scanned the treeline.
"Why are you defending them!" Pong Krell yelled out to him, himself still being hidden. "They were just pawns. You could have benefited from this! You could have fought for something real!"
Chief didn't answer. He didn't want to give him any satisfaction of any kind. "Cortana. Patch me through Rex."
Rex quickly picked up, "Chief, we're combing through right now. Have you found Krell yet?"
"Negative. He's talking to me. So he's on me."
"Roger. We'll move to you. Try to hold your position." Rex said before he turned his comm off.
Chief then looked up and heard rustling again. "Chief. The men aren't that far. We just need to distract him for a minute."
He understood his assistant. He stayed still and listened all around him. His head slowly scanning the environment, looking for any detail out of place. He slowly turned before spinning right and shooting into a tree.
A figure sprang from it before the shot landed. Two dual bladed lightsabers ignited and came crashing down. Chief jumped back and rapid fired at the blurry Jedi. Both junped and attacked with such speed and ferocity. Krell kept up the attack, slicing through anything that came in his way. The Spartan continued to use the surrounding flora to buy a second of time. His muscles ached and screamed at him with every push, every jump, but he didn't stop.
Then a crack is heard as the lightsaber grazes the helmet. Chief felt the heat off the blade barely touching his flesh.
"Come on Spartan." Krell laughed. "Never went up against someone like me?"
