Cora followed Theo up the steps toward the second floor.
"She okay? Marisa?" Theo asked, turning to look back at her, making Cora freeze.
"Yeah. Why wouldn't she be?" She asked, monotoned.
"I mean, she hasn't gotten a memory back and not told anyone, has she?"
"No. Marisa would have told us. Me, especially, or Scott." Cora told him immediately, shaking her head. "She wouldn't keep it from us, especially if it was helpful in anyway. Honestly, it would surprise me if they took a memory from her at all."
"Why's that?" Theo asked, chuckling slightly as he furrowed his brows at her.
"Because Marisa remembers every little thing like it's engraved into her brain. Even if she acts like she doesn't remember, she does. She memorizes everything about people and every little detail around her. It would really shock me of they actually got something out of her."
"I don't think pure will can stop the dread doctors." Theo chuckled again. "But you're cute for thinking so." Cora's face went pale, her eyes wide. "What? I can't call you cute..."
"No." Cora shook her head before he could finish. "No..." she cleared her throat. "I mean yes. It's just...weird, thank you very much. It's awkward, so...no compliments..." she cleared her throat again, her eyes wondering as she spoke. "I don't do compliments." She didn't see the smirk on Theo's face as she refused to look his way.
"Sorry. I'm still getting to know these things about you." This made Cora look at him, her heart thumping in her chest. Her body wanted to run, to get away at the sudden close feeling she was feeling, the guard-down feeling. She had changed her mind, and she wanted it back up, and to be nothing but pack members with Theo—why is he so close?
Maybe this is a bad idea. This was all a bad idea—-
Yeah. Definitely a bad idea. Marisa was right. She was right-I don't want this. I don't want to fall in love!—disgusting!
"You okay? Your hearts racing." Theo chuckled, snapping Cora from her thoughts.
"Let's just go find Lydia and stiles. I'll check this side, you check that side." She pointed before walking away from him, shivering from the awkward, panicked feeling she felt. All these feelings were so new to her. She had never known a boy, let along a cute boy. She had never had feeling for a boy, or anyone, and while she hadn't even admitted having feels for him to herself yet, she had decided that any possible feelings needed to be extinguished like a fire. Nope!—it was not happening today, she thought.
She was just going to focus on the task at hand: chimeras and her friends.
That was it.
A cool chill spread across Marisa's skin, making her shiver.
"I'll do whatever you want, alright?
If it's possible, help me."
"His name was Josh. He was a senior." Scott spoke, looking down at the dead body on the table before them. "Which one did it? The one with the cane?" He asked Theo and stiles who stood before him and Cora.
Cora's eyes flashed between the two boys, furrowing her brows at the way Stiles's heart raced in his chest as he looked to Theo.
"Yeah." Theo nodded.
"What are we gonna do with him?" Stiles asked, changing the subject. "We can't just set the alarm and leave. That's how Tracy disappeared. Someone's gotta stay here with him." He looked between the three before him.
"I gotta go find Marisa." Cora shrugged. "She's not answering her phone." Scott whipped his head around, looking at her wide eyed.
"What?" He snapped. "Why didn't you say anything?"
