This LOVELY suggestion by Ilookbooks12345678. This was actually pretty fun to make, so I might do a chapter from Jax's perspective.
STEP 1: COMPLAIN
I've said it once and I'll say it again. Jax's dad is stupid.
Why the heck would Jax need a bodyguard if he has me?
Um, hello? I've fought a whole war! I'm way more qualified than Agent 245 or whatever the heck her name is. If she even has a name. Or maybe she's just been addressed by numbers her whole life. Maybe her mom was like, "Aw, look how murderous and scary! Let's name her 245! Yeah, that's normal."
Not that she's like, scary or anything. Pfft. She's not even intimidating. If a villain tried to attack Jax, they would double over- but not in pain. In humor. Maybe that's why she was chosen as a bodyguard. The villain laughs themself to death before they can get a single punch in.
Ok, so maybe I'm being a little mean. But his bodyguard is so- ugh!
"Stupid!" I scream into the pillow Kayla's given me. She watches me with concern as I let out all my rage into the poor pillow.
"Gilly... don't you think you're being a little over the top?" She asks, somewhat hesitantly.
"She won't let me near Jax, Kayla!" I scowl.
"Yeah, she can't stand being away from her boyfriend for so long," Jocelyn snickers.
"Oh shut up, Jocelyn," I furrow my eyebrows, glaring at her. I haven't ate a lick of my food all throughout lunch, and everybody at our lunch table looks worried, even Jocelyn. Well, everyone except Jax, since he has to stay in his room for lunch!
Yeah! His new bodyguard is so crazy she's making him stay in his room to eat lunch because, apparently, it's "too dangerous in a cafeteria full of reform kids". She practically has him in solitary confinement.
Now, I'm not too caught up in the laws of Enchantasia, but I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Kidnapping or something!
"Maybe we should ask Agent 542-" Ollie starts
"Agent 245," I correct half-heartedly.
"-if Gilly can have some time to see Jax," Ollie finishes," I think she seriously might die."
I frown in his direction, laying my head down in my arms.
"Is she showing withdrawal symptoms?" Jocelyn questions.
"Shut. Up," I grit my teeth. They just don't understand.
"I can't believe Arnald made Jax spend even more time with her for bonding!" I huff out, "As if she isn't spending enough time with him as it is."
Realization seeps into Maxine's eyes. "Gilly, it's ok to be jealous..."
"I'm not jealous!" I snap, standing up abruptly, "I'm going to my room."
I march out of the cafeteria, up the stairs, and to my room, where I jump onto my bed, steaming.
Who does Agent 245 think she is, stealing my best friend from me?
I realize with a start that I really do sound jealous. But I'm not! I swear! I'm just... worried for Jax's well being. That's all. And maybe also the fact that I haven't seen Jax in 2 days, since he's skipped all his classes for "getting to know his bodyguard" time which, surprise, surprise, Arnald set up.
I think I might just punch someone if I don't get anything to do soon.
After a few minutes, there's a frantic knock on the door.
"Come in," I call, somewhat cautious. A flash of corn colored blurriness flies into my room, locking the door behind him.
STEP 2: ESCAPE
"Jax!" I exclaim, jumping up. He looks... exhausted. His hair is a mess, and his clothes are crinkled, instead of their usual ironed finish. That doesn't stop me from taking in how particularly pretty his eyes look today. Stupid, insufferable, crush.
"Hi, Thief," He responds, seemingly out of breath, "I escaped."
"I can tell," I laugh, helping him up from his sprawled out position on the floor. He stares at me for a second, before pulling me into a tight hug.
"Woah, you ok?" I ask him, hugging him back hesitantly.
"That was torture," He groans into my shoulder.
"What was torture?" I question. He doesn't answer, apparently comfortable right where he is. Not that I'm complaining, of course.
Jax towers over me, as he has for the past couple years. When we were 12, we were at least the same height. But since then he's had a nonstop growth spurt, while I've... well, I've stayed pretty much the same.
"Staying with her was terrible," Jax continues, "I think her tactics are what they do to prisoners to get them to cooperate. Social isolation or something."
"Aw, Jax," I frown, trying to think of something to comfort him, "Why don't you just tell your dad?"
"I tried. He doesn't really care. After everything with Alva and Rump, he's desperate to keep me safe."
A thought suddenly occurs to me. I pull away slightly so that I'm still holding him, but I can actually see his face. "What if we got her fired?"
"Huh?" Confusion is written in his expression, and he motions for me to elaborate.
"We could get her fired," I repeat, "Y'know, set her up to fail. Get her to be bad at her job."
"I appreciate it, Gils, but that would never work," He sighs, "For all her stupid ideas, she's pretty smart. She would never fall for it. She would probably outsmart you, for all we know."
"Well, I'm offended," I frown, "You can't out-trick a trickster. Remember? And I'm a trickster if I know it."
"I dunno..."
"C'mon, Jax, I can't stand to see you like this!"
And I'm maybe a little jealous. Ok, I'm like, really jealous. Maxine was right.
A harsh knock sounds at the door. "Jaxon Porter! I'm doing this for your own good!"
Ugh. I would know that horrid voice anywhere. Jax looked to me in panic.
"Don't worry, Princey, I've got a plan," I smile. I open the window quickly, and call out, "Blue!"
A blue carpet flies straight up to the window within seconds.
"Hey bud," I say to my favorite piece of magic fabric, "Think you could help us out?" He lowers himself so that I can get on, and I motion for Jax to do the same.
"Jaxon! If you don't come out on the count of three, I'm going to break open this door!"
Jax's head whips from the door to me to the door again.
"1..."
"Jax, c'mon!" I whisper-shout, reaching a hand out.
"2..."
He still hesitates, standing in the middle of the room.
"3!"
Jax grabs my hand, and I pull him onto Blue. We're out of the window before she can even open the door.
As always, I feel the exhilaration of being so high up in the air, flying through the clouds.
"You ok?" I shuffle so that I'm looking at him. His violet eyes glint in the sunlight, and a wide grin spreads across his face.
"Grimm, I thought I would be stuck with her forever," He laughs, sounding like a bird freed from a cage. I made him feel that way. Not Agent Numbers-For-A-Name.
I'm so awesome.
