Gilly sat down on her bed, giddy. Her friends all sat around her room- all except for Jax. She'd called them there to make an announcement- one that Jax was part of, but had decided not to join.
"Well?" Jocelyn rolled her eyes. "Are we just gonna sit here all day? I have better things to do than be here, Cobbler."
"Me and Jax are dating," she blurted out, too excited to drag it out. Squeals erupted from every person in the room- save for Jocelyn, obviously, but even she looked pleased.
"Finally," AG groaned. "You guys were so oblivious. Even I could see how much you liked each other."
"You're lucky," Ollie sighed. "Jax is fine."
A hum of agreement filled the air. Gilly blinked. "What?"
"What?" Jack parroted. "You're the one dating him, surely you've noticed how insanely hot he is."
"No, of course I- wait, what?" Gilly could hardly believe her ears. "You literally hate him?"
"Hey, I know a pretty face when I see one," he shrugged, grinning as he stole a patty cake from Ollie, who smacked him.
Gilly turned to Kayla, to see if she was hearing this, but she looked unfazed. When she saw Gilly's stare, she snorted. "Gilly, honey, Jax is very nice to look at."
"So this whole time, I could've talked to anyone about how hot Jax is?"
"I've been saying this," Ollie complained, words muffled by the four patty cakes he'd just stuffed in his mouth. He started choking, and Jack patted his back as he said, "Gils, Jax being gorgeous is common knowledge. All of us know it."
"He is objectively handsome," AG agreed. "Though I wouldn't date him, he's like my brother. Gross."
Gilly whipped out her phone. "I need to tell Jax this. Fairy Be, who knew you guys were all fangirling over Jax?"
"He already knows," Kayla shrugged, focusing on painting Jocelyn's nails black and purple. "I told him when we first met. It kind of just slipped out, like, 'wow, you're beautiful'. Ollie says it everyday, kind of hard to miss it, and Jack... actually, Jack, does Jax know about you thinking he's hot?"
"Yeah," Jack sighed miserably. "A couple of weeks ago, I was really tired, and I yelled at him for having prettier eyes than me."
Ollie studied Jack's face, then declared, "You have pretty eyes."
"Thanks, Oliver," Jack grinned, then stole another patty cake. Ollie scowled, and mumbled, "I take it back, they're as ugly as your soul."
Jack snorted. Gilly smiled and looked up from her phone. "Jax is on his way here."
"Why wasn't he here in the first place?" AG asked curiously.
"Because he had his prince meeting thingie with his dad." There was a chorus of 'yuck', because no one liked the King.
"And anyway," Gilly added. "If he had been here, Jocelyn totally would've made me kiss him to prove that we're dating."
"That's true," Jocelyn snickered. "I would've done that."
Jack stole yet another patty cake. Ollie set his plate down gently, turned to Jack, and tackled him. Jack screamed as he fought for his life. Everyone ignored them, as this was a common sight to see.
The door opened, and Jax walked in. AG waved, and Gilly smiled. Jax stepped over Jack and Ollie's tangled limbs, and jumped onto the bed next to Gilly, laying down next to her and draping an arm over her waist.
"Hey, Thief," Jax smiled.
"Hi, Jax," Gilly said softly.
"Yuck," Jocelyn scrunched her nose. She inspected her nails, then announced, "I'm out."
"Me too," Kayla stretched, cracking her back. Jack stole Ollie's patty cakes, and scrambled out the door, Ollie on his heel.
"I'll leave as well," AG smiled, and waved goodbye.
When they left, Gilly turned her head to face Jax and said, "Did you know everyone thinks you're really hot?"
"Why wouldn't they?" Jax grinned. Gilly frowned. It was weird, but she felt a little jealous.
Jax's smile widened. "Don't worry, Thief. I've only got eyes for you."
"Oh, gross, Jax," Gilly laughed, pushing his face away. "You're so cheesy."
"It's the truth!" Jax protested, laughing as well. He leaned in and kissed the tip of her nose, and Gilly felt her cheeks turn red.
The moment was broken by Jack stumbling into the room. His eyes widened, and he muttered an, "Oh, shit" before grabbing a stray patty cake off the floor, shoving it into his mouth, and running right back out.
Jax sighed. "He's so weird."
"He's actually exactly like me," Gilly snorted.
"But you're prettier."
"He is objectively pretty."
"No he isn't."
"Jax."
"..."
"Jax, it's okay to accept that he's pretty. Even if you hate him."
"..."
"Jaxon Porter."
"Fine, he is a little bit pretty."
"There you go."
