a/n: i've always wanted to write jilly from someone else's perspective so here we are. from our favorite ollie's pov. its just fluffy
also they're like children in this chapter everyone's 14 years old (except for the younger ones (that being AG and Jack, they're 13)).
sprinkles of jollie rancher (jack and ollie, ship name created by TheAnalogyQueen) but VERY subplot like you could just ignore that if u really wanted
"Ollie, you little fucker!" Gilly shouted, chasing him across the field. She was scary fast. Ollie let out a screech and ran as fast as his totally-not-short legs could take him.
It was, unfortunately, not fast enough.
He accepted his fate as Gilly tackled him to the grass, wrestling her phone away from his hands. He tried to read aloud the texts he could catch glimpses of.
"'you're so unfunny'," Ollie read, voice loud enough that people were looking. "'I don't know why I love you.' 'Aw, thief, you love me?' 'In a friend w'-"
He cut himself off, staring at Gilly deadpan, despite her literally trying to murder him. "Seriously? There's no way you friend-zoned him while confessing."
"It wasn't confessing, and it's none of your goddamn business!" Gilly snapped, finally prying her phone away from Ollie's reach. "You're such a nosy little shit."
"I'm not little," he complained. "I'm a perfectly normal size for a 14 year old boy."
"Babes, you're 5'0," she rolled her eyes. "You'll be lucky if you grow another two inches. Your whole family line is short."
"You're short too!" Ollie snapped.
"Yeah, but my dad's tall, so I'll definitely get taller."
He doubted that. Gilly had seemed tall two years ago, but she hadn't grown an inch. Her and Ollie were the shortest in the group- even AG and Jack were taller than them, and they were younger!
Well, he didn't know if the others considered Jack part of the group, but he sure did. Jack was nice now- well, not nice, but fun to be around.
Gilly collapsed next to Ollie and sighed. "Real question."
"I'll try to give you a real answer," he responded, picking at the grass.
"Do you think it would work out? Between me and Jax? I know we're only in 9th grade, but... when it comes to it, do you think he would be able to ignore my status and be with me?"
"Of course he would, Gilly, what kind of question is that? He's never cared about status. He's friends with us, Gilly. We're not exactly rich. He likes you, despite everything. He's not that stuck up. He'll always choose you."
"He dated Heath last year," Gilly reminded.
"For a week," Ollie corrected. "Heath was fun for him, not serious. Plus, remember what Jax said? He liked having someone who understood what it was like to be royal, but he said they were too similar. You have this, like, whole other perspective, and you're good for him. You can show him how to think like a villager, not a prince."
"I don't know..." Gilly frowned, looking at Ollie. "Do you think his dad would approve?"
"Jax would fight him if he didn't," he shrugged. "C'mon, Gilly. Everything between you guys will work out. Look, he's coming over right now."
Ollie nodded his head in the prince's direction. "Hey, Jax!"
The blond made his way over, and sat down next to them, legs sprawled out. "Hey, Ollie. Hey, Thief."
"Hi," Ollie said. "Did you bring the patty cakes?"
"Jack's bringing them," Jax rolled his eyes at the thought of the annoying boy. Well, Ollie didn't find him annoying. He was nice. Kind of cute, but he'd keep that to himself.
"You invited him?" Gilly laughed.
"He invited himself," Jax complained. "He saw me walking and asked what I was doing, and I said I was meeting you guys, and he said he had to give something to Ollie anyway."
"Oh, probably my binder, I forgot it during class," Ollie nodded. "At least he's bringing the patty cakes."
"Fatass," Jax snorted, to which Ollie shoved him. What toxic friends, always verbally abusing him.
"I'm not fat," Ollie complained. "I like food, big deal."
"Yeah, Ollie, you're actually really skinny," Gilly commented, sounding slightly concerned. "You can have all the patty cakes."
Ollie rolled his eyes. He wasn't skinny, at least, he didn't think so. "Whatever. When did you say Jack was coming?"
"Right now," a voice said, and Ollie looked up to find the brunet carrying a picnic basket. He set it down, and sat next to Ollie.
"A whole picnic basket?" Jax rolled his eyes.
"Was I supposed to just gather them in my arms?" Jack shot back, scowling. "You're such a dumbass."
"No, you," Jax stuck his tongue out, which was childish enough that they all laughed- Jax included. Ollie was pretty sure Jax and Jack hated each other for show now- they were friends, even. He knew they sent each other memes, for some reason.
Jax pulled three pieces of chocolate out of his pocket, and held them out to Gilly. "For you, since I forgot to pay you back for the bakery."
"Thanks," Gilly took them, unwrapping one and popping it into her mouth. "These are my favorite."
"I know," Jax grinned, and Gilly smiled, looking away.
Disgusting.
"Jesus, when's the wedding?" Jack mumbled. Ollie agreed with the sentiment. Gilly glared daggers at Jack, who raised his hands up in surrender.
Jax flopped backwards on Gilly's side. Now Jack was the only one sitting up.
"Flop with us," Ollie grinned.
"No, I have dignity," Jack shook his head, grabbing a patty cake and handing it to Ollie. "Plus, how will you eat if you're laying down?"
Ollie shoved the dessert into his mouth, chewed, and swallowed without choking. Jack shifted away from him. "It's like a snake swallowing an egg."
Ollie looked over, and found Gilly and Jax deep in discussion, fingers intertwined, probably without even noticing. He hadn't lied when he said everything would be find between them. They loved each other, anyone with eyes could see it.
He knew that in every universe, they would end up together. No matter what.
