Clara didn't get grounded, but Spencer gave her a very long lecture about the danger of drugs and alcohol. She was shocked he let her off with a stern warning, but accepted it nonetheless.
The team have the weekend off and Spencer forced Clara to stay with Emily for a night, the two adults thinking it might be good for her. They hope maybe she'll open up to Emily.
"Okay. We got pizza, soda, and movies." Emily says, putting the boxes of the food on the coffee table. "Anything else?"
"Wine?" Clara asks.
"Nice try." Emily scoffs, sitting on the couch. "What do you wanna watch first? We got plenty of options."
"I want to go home... or hang out with Izzy." Clara grumbles.
"That's not happening. Luke and Matt took your dad out for the night--"
"I'm almost 16. I can stay home by myself." Clara says.
"Not lately." Emily says. "And, besides, I thought you weren't allowed to hang out with Izzy outside of school... or parties."
"She lies to her mom all the time. We still spend time together outside of school." Clara says with a small eye roll.
"Do you ever lie to your dad just as much?" Emily asks.
"Even if I did, why would I ever admit it?" Clara questions. "And even if or when I do, he should know since he's so good at his job." She mutters, grabbing a piece of pizza.
"Do you like his job?" Emily asks.
"I don't care about his job." Clara answers. "He likes it, good for him. Whatever."
"Do you wish he was home more?" Emily asks.
"Nope." Clara quickly answers.
"Clara, you know you... you know that you can talk to me, right?" Emily asks. "I'm always here."
"Good for you." Clara mutters, nibbling on the pizza.
"I'm serious, sweetheart." Emily says and Clara rolls her eyes. "If you think you can't talk to your dad and won't talk to your therapist--"
"I'm sorry, is everybody just always talking about me? Maybe I'm not talking to my therapist because she tattles to my father. Isn't that against the rules?" Clara asks, now getting angry.
"She didn't say what you guys talked about. She just said you don't talk much, that's it." Emily says. "That's a very vague reveal."
"And you and my dad just talk about me all the time, right? Trying to figure out how to help me. You guys ever think I don't want it?" Clara sneers.
"Clara, you're drinking a lot. You're going to parties, you-- you smoked weed." Emily says.
"And you've never gotten high?" Clara asks with raised eyebrows.
"That's not the point." Emily says.
"That's a yes." Clara laughs.
"Clara!" Emily snaps making the girl shut up. "We are worried about you. We want to help you, we want you to be okay."
"I'm fine." Clara insists with a scoff.
"No, you're not." Emily frowns.
"How would you know?" Clara asks, getting up. "You're always working, I haven't seen you in a month practically. You don't know what I'm feeling or how I am. None of you do. And if you're not working, you're off hanging out with each other. And if you can drown yourselves in work when your lives suck o-or go party when you get trauma, I can do my own fucked up shit."
