"W-what? With Charlie too?" I asked depressed.
She slowly nodded her head and looked me straight in the eye. Her two hands rose and touched my face.
"You said you trust me, right?" She said softly.
I noticed that her eyes were watering as I continued to caress both of her cheeks.
"How many days are you going to stay there? What are you going to do?" I asked without getting an answer. My heart was starting to beat faster at the thoughts I was thinking. I was so confused.
What if she never comes back? What if when she comes back, she's already married to Charlie? What if their parents insist on the wedding and they can't come back? What about me?
"Patricia, we'll be staying there for four days. But I promise you, I'll be back okay? I promise you, if anything bad happens, I'll come home right away. I'll come home to you...just to you, Patricia."
"I trust you."
That's all I said.
It's okay. I'm a graduate. I can now brag to everyone that freen is my girlfriend. I can now brag to everyone that this is the one I love. But why are there so many obstacles?
I was brought back to the present when freen held one of my hands.
"Wait for me, please? Four days, Patricia. I only need four days. Charlie and I have already planned to tell our parents that we will not marry each other."
I blinked. "You'll do that?"
Of course. "Yes. We've already planned to ruin the engagement party and let everyone knows that we're against it. I don't care about my parents reputation. I don't care if they'll be mad at me. I just want to be with you. To spend my lifetime with you. Becky..."
She cupped my face again and leaned closer. "...I'm sure of you."
My tears started to fall down on my cheek when she said it. It seemed like all the doubts in my heart suddenly melted away with her words. I am also sure of you.
I felt her fingers wipe my tears and kiss my cheek. "Wait for me, my love. I'll be back. I'll be back to you, my love."
I closed my eyes when I felt her lips on mine again. I kissed her back slowly and when we parted, I stared at her.
"I'll wait for you."
--
"It's still foggy. Don't you want to stay a little longer?" I asked as we left the house.
She shook her head no. "I'm sorry, Patricia . I need to prepare my stuffs too."
I nodded. "Wait, I'll just get something." I said and quickly entered the house. When I saw what I was looking for, I immediately went back outside and approached her with a smile.
"Wear this, freen." I put my varsity jacket on her with my last name on the back. I also put my baseball cap on her and when I did, I smiled broadly.
"Something that suits you--"
"We are more suitable."
My mouth dropped open when she spoke and after a while I giggled softly. My once grumpy professor was really becoming cheesy.
I snaked my arms around her waist and stared at her intently. "It's okay, freen. That's why you're mine."
She softly smiled and pecked my lips again. "I'm always yours, Patricia."
I smiled sweetly at her and she smiled back at me. We stared at each other for a moment when she spoke again.
"I love you so much, Rebecca Armstrong."
