Freen P.O.V

I woke up with a sore back, a sore stomach, a sore head, and a sore throat. I tried to open my eyes and mouth to say something but I couldn't.

What's happening to me?

"Freen?"

It was like I was inside a tunnel with a voice echoing around me.

"Freen? Can you hear me?"

There's that voice again that feels close but far away. I can't understand it.

After regaining my strength, I tried to open my eyes again and suddenly closed them due to the pain of the light that hit me.

"Oh God, she's awake, Tito."

"Call the Doctor Hurry up!"

"Yes."

I could still hear those muffled voices around me so I tried harder to open my eyes. I slowly adjusted my vision to the dazzling surroundings and when I got used to it, I opened them with all my strength.

"God, Thank God. My daughter! You're awake!"

It was only then that I realized that Daddy and Mommy were the ones surrounding me right now.

I stared at their crying faces as they caressed my cheeks. I tried to open my mouth to ask a question but I couldn't explain what was happening.

Why can't I? Why can't I speak? Is there something wrong with me?

I've tried and tried but only moans come out of my mouth and when my parents realized what was happening, Mommy suddenly started crying.

"D-doc, I think something is wrong with my d-daughter. What is happening?"

I heard my mom asked the doctor when she arrived together with Charlie.

The doctor started checking me and when he was done, he sighed heavily and turned to face my Mommy and Daddy. I also saw Charlie in my peripheral view who was now staring at me with a worried look on his face.

"Due to your daughter's traumatic brain injury and trauma, her speech muscles weakened and paralyzed, with that, her ability to speak is temporarily damaged. She can't talk for now since the muscles are still weak...it's understandablesince she was in coma for four years."

What?! Four...four years?! I was asleep for four years? I was in a coma...for four years? How? How did it take so long? How is Patricia? Does she know? Oh God! Does she know that this happened to me?

Because of what I found out, I tried to look for her around, but only Charlie, Mom, and Dad were here with the doctor.

Based on the hospital's face, I know I'm in a foreign country now. But what worries me more...does Patricia  know this? Is she here? How is she? What happened in the past four years?

"...and since her spinal cord was injured due to the accident, expect that some parts of her upper body, lower body, and legs are temporarily paralized too."

My mind snapped back to the present when I heard what the doctor said. I felt like I was deafened by what I was hearing now. I didn't know if I was still dreaming or if all of this was real.

I...can't move my body for a while? I can't speak?

As I thought about it, I suddenly felt tears streaming down my face. I tried to speak again but only a groan came out of my mouth.

D-doc, how long will my child's situation be like this?" Mommy asked, sobbing.

"More or less six months, Mrs. Chankimha. But that still depends. Since she's awake, we'll gradually get everything back to normal through therapy and medication."
