Later that evening, they returned to the hotel to pack for their return to Korea. Sara was still in shock over everything--Chan's confession, the picnic, the way he had kissed her cheek. It all felt like a dream. But the real test came the next day at the award show.
This time, Sara had been tasked with doing Seungcheol's makeup. She had never worked with him much before, but today, she was focused intently on her craft. Chan was busy getting ready in the other room with other makeup artists. She didn't get the chance to see him until they were all gathered backstage before the show began.
Sara was finishing up Seungcheol's makeup when she caught Chan's gaze. They locked eyes for a moment, and Sara felt her heart race, the lingering warmth from their time together still fresh in her chest. Chan grinned at her, and Sara quickly looked away, trying to hide the blush spreading across her cheeks.
Seungcheol smirked, clearly noticing the silent exchange. "Looks like someone's got a secret," he teased, winking at them both before leaving the room. Sara felt a flutter of nervousness in her stomach. What was going on between her and Chan? Was it real?. As she finished up cleaning up, Chan reappeared. He walked up to her with a grin.
"hey" he said, his voice low. "Don't you think this lip color doesn't suit me that much?" Sara blinked, surprised by the question, She looked at his lips, her mind foggy for a moment. "Uh...um, I think maybe a color a bit darker um... Oh! like the one I have on will suit you more, but you don't look bad--",
Before she could finish, Chan pressed his lips into hers, shutting her up completely. Her breath caught in her throat as he pulled away, a soft smile playing at the corner of his lips. "Yeah", he said, checking himself out in the mirror." This color definitely fits me more. Thanks."
Sara stood there, frozen, heart pounding in her chest. What the fvck had just happened. Chan had kissed her. and she hadn't stopped him. He flashed her a cheeky grin before walking out of the room, leaving Sara standing there, her mind racing.
All she could do is just stare at herself in the mirror, trying to process the whirlwind of emotions. She was no longer just the makeup artist. She was someone Chan cared about. She was Sara--she was his--and maybe, just maybe, she was worthy of love after all.

Sara stood quietly in the dressing room, her heart still racing. The last few minutes played in a loop in her mind: Chan's sudden kiss, the shock, the way he'd pulled away and left her standing there, a thousand of thoughts swirling inside her. It was like everything she'd ever believe about herself--the belief that no one would ever look at her the way they did with the girls in magazines, the belief that she didn't had what it took to make someone feel that way--had been shattered in one impulsive moment.
Her fingers trembled as she wiped away the last traces of foundation from her working station. Her thoughts were clouded, tangled up in the kiss, but also in the way Chan looked at her afterward, as if he were waiting for something...she wasn't sure she could give.
"Sara?"The voice came from the doorway, and Sara turned to see Chan standing there. His expression was soft, but there was a nervous energy about him--something the mirrored the fluttering in her chest. "Hey,"she said, her voice a little too high pitched. She forced a smile. "I didn't expect you to come back here."
He stepped into the room, glancing over his shoulder to make sure no one was watching. "I had to talk to you." Sara's heart skipped. "About..?" Chan hesitated, clearly searching for the right words. His hands fidgeted in his pockets, a far cry from his usual confident, laid-back self. "About what happened," he said, his voice quieter now, almost uncertain.
Sara swallowed hard. "What happened ?" She regretted the words the second they left her mouth. The last thing she wanted was to make it sound like she didn't know what he was talking about. "You know," he said, his eyes meeting her, "the kiss."
Her chest tightened. She had so many questions, but they were stuck in her throat. Instead, she nodded looking down at her hands. Chan's voice softened. "I didn't want to scare you. I just... I don't know. I wanted to kiss you. And I thought maybe you'd like it." He stepped closer, his eyes searching hers, as if he was trying to read her thoughts. "I don't want to make things awkward. I just--"
"It's not awkward," Sara blurted out, surprising herself. She raised her gaze to meet his. "I just... I'm not used to this. To you. To...well, everything." Chan looked at her softly, and he reached out, gently brushing a lock of hair behind her ear. "You don't have to be used to it. Not yet, anyway."
Her heart raced at the touch, at the way he looked at her like she was someone worth getting to know. Someone worth loving. It was all too new, too much, but in a way it made her feel seen for the first time in her life.
"I've been thinking about it" he continued. "About us. And I know things are crazy right now, with the band and everything, but..." He hesitated. "I'd like to take you out. Just the two of us. No cameras, no distractions, just a normal date."
Sara blinked, her stomach doing somersaults. "A date?" She whispered , feeling the heat in her cheeks. "Yeah. A real one. You. Me. And no one else." She swallowed , feeling the walls she'd spent years building around herself start to crumble. This was real. He was real. "I--" Sara stopped herself, her nerves getting the best of her.
But she looked at Chan, and his eyes, she saw something that made her feel braver. "Okay. A date. But we have to be careful. You know... with the fans, and the press." Chan chuckled, his eyes lighting up with genuine warmth. "Of course, we'll figure it out. It'll be just us, no one else."
"Okay," Sara said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Then... yeah, I'd like that." A smile tugged at the corner of Chan's lips, and he leaned in, this time pressing a soft kiss to her forehead, a promise more than anything else. "It's a date then."
