I kind of feel bad because my time to tell Rachel's story has ended. I don't know what I'll do for the rest of my life now, considering the fact that I left my job for good. I just feel so lost, right now. Well, what good can it do by sulking about it?

This is one of the cases I'm not satisfied about. Just like how Henry asked a few questions, Rachel asked hundreds but we still couldn't find the answer to it.

My head hurts, I want a tea. I get up and go to the kitchen. I start boiling some water and throw in some tea powder. I drain it and pour it all into a cup. I take my cup upstairs to my room, that is when I spot Rachel's diary.

I think that I have all this time, I should read it. So, I take the book and get into my bed all comfortable. I open the next entry and start reading.

'Dear diary,

It has been a long week and I will be lying if I said that it wasn't difficult at all. My husband moved in with me and I would say that we are living a satisfied life. Prickly neighbors, small house, shitty street but hey, always got to stay optimistic right?

Today I washed my black leather jacket, I don't know if I am supposed to. I mean, it looks fine so I don't think there is any problem with it. Aiden loves my jacket, he keeps saying that one day he'll maybe buy a similar one.

The cases have been going really well. Not that interesting but the only cases which we were given were robberies. A vault robbery today, and it has been progressive.

I'm still the only head detective who has maintained no unsolved cases, and I wish for it to be the same.
This pretty much sums up my week. Hope you're doing good taking all of my information inside your head, if you have one, which I know you don't. Oh hell, whatever.

Truly,
Rachel '

This girl, I swear to god will be the death of me one day. But I'm not sure how that will work since she is already dead. She hasn't completely filled in the diary, but I think there are about ten to fifteen entries totally. She wasn't the type to write down stuff, not her method to express feelings.

I have read about five to six of her entries now and all of them have one thing in common, they have been written at the end of a week. All of these entries are about her day to day stuff, the small things which happened.

She never mentioned anything about cases, other than what they were. The way she describes her cases is unique, because at the end it makes you question a lot of things.

For instance, I still don't understand how the killer was able to get to Alice before us. I'm not really sure if it was the cops' mistake. Maybe the killer was quick to notice the call patterns.
Well, who knows and what do we gain out of even finding out.

Even the department wasn't keen on finding the murderer considering the victim was an abuser herself. As per law, showing favoritism towards one criminal is not legal, but when finding them becomes impossible and is delaying the judgment, you might as well just close it.

I'm just going to sleep, too tired for all of this. I got to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life after today. I don't know if the boys want to continue with the podcast, even if they do, I don't have more information for it.

All I can do now, is sleep. I turn off the light and close my eyes.

I wake up to my alarm, realizing the fact that I woke up the next day after my long nap. I immediately get a call from Henry and he says, "Hey, good morning. Hope I didnt disturb your sleep." I am sincerely confused right now because how does he actually time his phone calls perfectly.

I say, "No, you didn't. Tell me, what's up?" He says, "I just wanted to let you know that we have started to make the podcast properly. We wanted to ask if you want to be in the last episode. You know, just to say your regards."

I don't even think for a moment before answering, "Yes, I would love to." Then Henry asks, "What will you do today? If you're bored just call me before showing up here. I hope you know that you're always invited."

This kid is the best, I continue, "Oh yeah, but I have plans today. I'll call you whenever I'm free. I'm going to meet up with Valerie."

He says, "Oh okay, then its all good. Bye."
I cut the call and immediately phone Valerie. She answers and says, "Hello! How are you today?" I reply, "Oh yeah, I'm fine what about you?" She says, "Yeah I'm good. What's up?"

I ask, "Do you live with your parents?" She answers with doubt, "Yes, I do. Why do you ask?" I say, "I was wondering if I could meet your parents." She says with a little joy, "My pleasure to host you. I'll send you the address. Come home for lunch. I'll make you some enchiladas."

I say, "Can't wait," and cut the call. I feel a little bit of motivation in me. To make amends, many wouldn't call it amends because I don't owe the Lopez's anything. But I'm going to make amends with my past. I sincerely need it.

I should also inform them of my wife's death, it is the right thing to do. With all of this running in my head, I get ready and start cooking breakfast.

                               ****

It is around noon now, so I pick up my keys to my car and follow the map which Valerie sent me. As I'm driving, I enter a neighborhood that I'm not familiar with. I spot their house and park in their driveway. Valerie comes out running and gives me the biggest warm hug ever.

I say, "Hey kid, how are you?" She says, "I'm fine Aiden. I'm so glad that I can show you off to my parents." I just chuckle and we proceed inside.

I look up to see Nora and Sasha standing and smiling few feet away from me. They look the same, except much older. I say, "Hey guys. How are you?" They both come near and Nora says, "We're good, how long has it been? It is so nice to see you again!"

Sasha nods with approval. That is the kind of relationship that they have. Nora does all the talking and gestures, while Sasha just agrees with her. Sasha is a little introverted so I don't blame her.

They welcome me in and I spot Violet. She comes and gives me a hug and says, "Aiden, hi! It is insane that we're meeting again, but I'm glad too." I chuckle and say, "Well you were my favorite teenager after all. The cool kid who throws parties without her parent's permission opposite to her house."

She just glares at me and starts to laugh again. It brings back so many memories when you meet people from your past. Everyone says that you have to move on from your past but sometimes, you got to visit your past to be in the present.
