Henry says, "Well continue. What did you do with the new information that you got?"
I reply, "Patience man. We received the address of the place. The daycare was called Feather Kids. We visited the area, just to find it burned down. We thought that it was a dead end but still checked inside if there were any remains of things that might be useful.
We went inside and checked around to find, well nothing. I tried to look through the remains of some books, saw a few numbers here and there, didn't find a thing. We looked around for people but the area was deserted. The fire seemed like it happened a long time back.
The neighborhood was not good at all, it had been infested with thugs. We politely asked them what happened to the daycare, to which he replied, 'I think some kid set fire to it.'
Damn kids got some weird thinking nowadays."
Guy asks, "How did you get out of there with no punches to your face, if the area was infested with thugs like you said?"
I laugh and reply, "Always be polite I guess. You don't know when your manners will help you out."
He shrugs and says, "Being polite has never really been my thing."
I then reply, "Well now we know what happened to you when you go missing in the future."
He just chuckles and says, "We'll see."
I just look at them and say, "So far what do you think about the story? Do you think that we'd be able to find the killer?"
Henry looks at me and replies, "Well, the fact that this is an unsolved case says everything and I feel like you're hitting every dead end you possibly can. But if the investigation improves, then maybe you would have been able to find the culprit. Maybe they were right beside you, right in front of your eyes, yet you either chose to miss the clues or was actually ignorant and missed the clues."
Damn, now he got me thinking. So I ask, "Who do you have in mind?"
He just stares and says, "With the lack of information and my active presence in the crime scene, it is hard to tell."
Who does dude think he is? Sherlock Holmes or what? I just shrug his absolutely professional comment off and continue, "By the way my favorite drunk bastards, have you forgotten the fact that we missed lunch and its already 6 in the evening? Is my story that interesting that you're willing to skip lunch, willing to starve me in order to hear the whole damn story?"
Henry and Guy look at me weirdly and say, "Yeah," together. I just roll my eyes and say, "How about we order our early dinner?" They nod and we decide on some Chinese place which is very good. I love Chinese food, makes me feel like I'm home and at a restaurant to be honest.
Well we ordered and I continue, "I will entertain you boys for a while before my food comes.
So yeah, no luck with the daycare but hey, we did come to know that the killer was quite close to Katerina. We used to think about everything positively, else, we'd have been dead by then.
We left the area and gave the guy who helped us, even though he technically didn't, a ten dollar tip. He thanked us and said, 'You're cool.' Thats all he said, I vividly remember those smug words coming out of his mouth and Rachel and I broke out laughing when we were out of the area.
We went back home and met someone unexpectedly, who I haven't introduced yet. We hadn't investigated their family yet at that time. She was Mrs.Lopez, more like Sasha Lopez. She was a brilliant lawyer who lost all of her money to a scam, god sometimes the most brilliant people can be the dumbest. Her scam case was going on in court but in the meantime she stayed on 'Broke people street' also known as 'Whitestreet'.
She had a family, a beautiful wife and a beautiful teen. They honestly were one of the most normal people on that street but getting on their bad side was just as being dead. Rachel always liked Sasha a lot more than Nora, Sasha's wife.
I liked them both, they were friendly and threatening at the same time, both of them lawyers. I believe their daughter was one of the smartest lady I had ever met. She was like 16 or 17 at that time, wasn't amazing in school but she sure was street smart. I mean if you grew up in a neighborhood like mine, you'd have to be smart in some way, else you won't survive."
The bell rings and a voice says, "Delivery for Henry Louise."
Henry walks up to the door and slides the guy some money while bringing back the delicious smelling food. I take my parcel from them and say, "Wonton soup is the best for hangovers or you can have it any day I guess."
They both agree and we dig in. We eat so intensely that we forget to speak. We finish our meals and I look at them both. Its 8 p.m. already. They read my mind and Henry says, "Yeah, you should leave if you're tired."
I nod in agreement and say, "I think I want fresh air, it is too soon to sleep so I'll find myself something to do."
Then Guy gets up and says, "Wait, before you leave, just tell me if you want to hang out by the lake tomorrow. We can record there. It'll change up the space and we can fish for sometime. It'll be better than being cooped up in this same old office."
I look at him with an interested face and say, "Yeah, why not? Let's catch some fish. I'll bring my fishing rod."
We all say our byes for the night and I start driving home. I enter the building and stand for a moment. I say out loud, "You know what, I'm going for a walk. The moon is too beautiful to miss out."
It is a little cold outside so I go up to my room and open my closet to find no jackets. Why the hell didn't I have any jackets? I look into the laundry bin to find two old jackets unwashed and giving off a smell that I wouldn't like to describe.
I then walk back inside the room and check inside Rachel's closet. Aha! The fashionista, my fashionista had so many jackets, maybe more than her actual clothes. But I look around to find anything unisex and I see it.
The perfect black leather jacket in existence, it looks warm too. I think, 'Why not?' and put it over me to find Rachel's vanilla smell all over it. It is warm, comforting and makes me feel nostalgic about us. I missed her smell so much.
I wear her jacket and go out of the house. I lock it and walk into the night lights. So beautiful yet so sad, my life. I don't even know why I am here. I mean, what purpose do I serve now? My wife, the only one I loved from the bottom of my heart is not here anymore.
Does she want me to live? Should I die and go to her? I mean no one here is going to miss me. I think she'd want me to live, at least if not for me, for her. She'd want to experience how life would be out of those wheelchairs which stopped her from experiencing life properly for the past 6-7 years.
I have made up my mind. I am going to do everything she wanted to do in her bucket list, in order to fulfill her wishes. I'll live on her behalf, I'll live for her even if I don't want to. Even if I hate it, the fact that I'm doing this for my baby makes it all better. And what should I complain about when I got two college kids always with me?
I'll start by going to the lake tomorrow. I really have to touch grass.

Hey guys! How are you all today? I wrote this chapter, could be relevant or irrelevant to the story though. Introduced new characters, the Lopez family. My personally favorite couple. I couldn't publish yesterday as I was really busy with school, but I'll try to be as regular as possible.
And to my best friend, Happy birthday you doofus! Ily so much and I hope you read this chapter (I published it just like you asked me to do). Happy 15!
