monae had just got back from getting her nails done—earlier that day she had got her hair done and lashes so now she was just finishing it off with her nails.

lately she had been being extremely dry with brooklyn every time she tried to talk to her due to them being on the phone the other day and hearing her ex's name being mentioned.

after getting her nails done, monae went to an asian supermarket which she loved so much and found cool—she parked her car and grabbed her purse before getting out and rushing into her favorite store.

"hi mrs.choi" monae smiled at the older woman as she entered the store "good evening, monae" she smiled back "she's like our child" her husband laughed which made monae do the same.

"where's your brother?" mrs.choi asked monae who was looking at the different dishes they had "on a date, he's finally getting a girlfriend" monae said, excitement laced in her voice.

"finally? he must've been single for a while" mr.choi stated "yea, ever since he got cheated on back in july of two years ago he's just been to himself, i think he's afraid of getting hurt again" monae rambled as she entered another aisle with drinks.

"oh no, poor thing" mrs.choi said with a sad expression "and get this, she got pregnant and tried to say it was his baby" monae said, causing the old couple to gasp.

"i know target hate to see me coming" monae said as she got out of her car and rushed into her second favorite store—her attention was caught once she felt her phone constantly ringing which made her grab it and stare at the contact name that read candida.

she ended up answering on the last ring, being met with brooklyn who was sitting in her living room "you still acting like i don't exist or you wanna be mature and talk it out?" brooklyn questioned which made monae scoff.

"there's not much to talk about, you were with your ex and i have no control over that" monae shrugged "i wasn't with her tho" brooklyn said "i came over there to see gio and yanni had all of her friends over and alyce came outta nowhere trying to speak to me" brooklyn said.

"i hear you" monae hummed as she looked at the different skirts that were hanging up "don't worry about it." brooklyn said before hanging up but monae didn't pay her any mind.

"oh this is really cute" monae said as she grabbed the denim mini skirt that caught her eye before looking over at the sweatpants "i do need some more grey sweats" she mumbled as she looked at the different sizes.

"i apologize if i'm disturbing you ma'am but you are gorgeous" a male voice was heard causing monae to look at him and grin a little "thank you, i really appreciate it" she spoke honestly.

"of course, have a nice day" he said "you too" she replied, watching as the male walked off before letting out a long sigh—she genuinely accepted the compliment and he was a sweetheart but she had a strong hatred for men and nobody could change that for her.

"alright i'm done" monae said as she walked to the register and placed her things down "good evening" the teenage girl said as she rung up the items and removed the sensors "hi, good evening" monae replied.

"your total is forty seven twenty one" she said and monae nodded "cash or card?" she questioned "card" monae replied before using her tap and grabbing her bag.

"here's your receipt, have a nice day" she said "you too" monae replied before walking out of the store "wishing you godspeed" monae sung lowly to herself as she walked over to her car.

"glory, there will be mountains you—" monae cut herself off once she looked up, only to see brooklyn leaning against the back of her car with her arms crossed.

"what the fuck" monae said as she gave the girl a concerned look "since you have such an issue with talking over the phone we're gonna talk in person" brooklyn stated as she uncrossed her legs, following monae the drivers side.

"if i wanted a shinigami then i would've found a death note" monae said, referring to brooklyn shadowing her "not the time for jokes" brooklyn stated as she got into the passenger seat.

"go get in your car and leave me alone" monae said, rolling her eyes "car? what car? oh i didn't inform you, im coming with you" brooklyn said and monae looked at her "no the hell you're not" she said.

"how much you wanna bet?" brooklyn said with an eyebrow raised "a piece of lint" monae replied "gotcha" she nodded "what do you want to talk about?" monae said as she watched raindrops slowly fall onto her windshield.

"you avoiding me for no reason and treating me like bacteria" brooklyn stated causing monae to scoff "for no reason? oh brother, get a load of this guy" monae laughed.

"and you're taking me as a joke? mind you, you can't even look me in my face" she said as she slouched a little while man spreading "what does that have to do with anything?" monae questioned.

"because you know what i'm saying is true, you just don't want to admit it— like honestly, what the fuck would i be doing with alyce?? i don't like that bitch, if i seen her on the side of the road with a homeless sign in the cold i'd park in front of her and eat a full course meal with the heat on blast" brooklyn said which made monae laugh a little.

"that's just because you're an asshole and nobody can change you" monae said "i mean you could but not with that attitude or stubbornness" brooklyn said causing monae to glare at her.

"i'm not stubborn" she glared "oh but you are" brooklyn announced and she rolled her eyes causing brooklyn to sit all the way up and look at her, well stare at her.

"can you stop?" monae mumbled "can you communicate?" brooklyn replied "haha, funny." monae said with the straightest face ever "we're not gonna get anywhere with you being like this so what we finna do" brooklyn said.

"i don't know, you tell me" monae said "are we ending it here or are you going to communicate with me and hear me out instead of believing what a bum ass bitch said?" brooklyn questioned.

"stop referring to them as bitches" monae said "look at you, responding to the most irrelevant part" brooklyn announced and monae sighed "so what is it gonna be cause you're giving me that vibe like we're wasting each others time" she said.

"we should just call it quits then"
