•Chapter Twenty Four•

Killua is determined, he's ready, and he's going to do it. He hasn't had a boyfriend before, but well, Gon is practically that. Though without the kissing. But they cuddle! And they hold hands sometimes too! Also, it could be argued that their hangouts are practically unofficial dates.

Alluka has been pressuring him to just get over the nerves and just ask.  And Killua wants to get over his nerves, he wants to spill his whole heart to Gon and tell him everything he's ever thought about him. Tell him about the times he made him angry or happy or whenever his heart would skip a beat when they touched. Killua wanted that title of being Gon's boyfriend just like he wanted Gon to have the title of being his.

But he's so scared. What if it ruins everything. Their relationship was so fragile up until a three or four months ago. What if Gon hurts him again? What if he hurts Gon?

Killua could stay up all night worrying about the what ifs. He could do a pros and cons list of why he should and shouldn't tell Gon how he truly feels.

But he's has class in the morning. So he'll save it for the weekend.

Gon has been called many things, but no one has ever called him a coward.

Whenever Killua is around, Ging gives him this look. It isn't a normal look either. It's a judging look. A look that means 'if you don't tell him your head over hills for him I'll do it for you', and it's kinda nice having Ging care and support him. Even if the support doesn't really feel like support and is a bit pushy; it's nice knowing his own father cares a little bit about what he has going on.

But Gon can't tell him that he'd dig through the side of mountain if it meant seeing him on the other side.

He lays back on his bed, staring at his ceiling. The night breeze blows in through his open window. It's warm.

When he first met Killua, he didn't think much of him. Truthfully, he only cared about his looks. He was just a pretty face with a nice body. Gon never expected to care this much for him. Never thought he would value his attention. But he does, and it's the best thing ever. He cherishes that more than he could ever imagine.

He turns over to his side and stares at the small alarm clock on his accent table.

3:47 AM

The bright red numbers stared back at him mockingly. He could only sigh in response.

"Gon!" Gon doesn't have much time to turn his head before Retz is latching herself to his arm. His face instantly turning up with dismay. She's looking up at him with her pretty green eyes. Retz is pretty, don't get him wrong. But she's clingy, and at times a bit of a bitch.

He groans, "what Retz". He's pulling his arm back from her, not wanting to be seen with her holding onto him.

"When are you gonna take me out a date huh?" They're starting to get attention from students passing through the near empty hallway.

"Fucking never." She feigned hurt, gasping and making a show of it all, like he truly broke her heart. She should know by now that Gon wants nothing to do with her. He's made it very clear.

"Why're you so mean to me?!" Retz is pouting. She looks so childlike. Stomping her foot in her knee length skirt.

"Because I don't like you." Gon stated bluntly. Like it's the most obvious thing in the world, which it is.

"Gon" He felt his head snap up, he knows that voice. He shrugged Retz off him and made his way to Killua. A small smile breaking out on his face as he got closer to him. The blues in his eyes becoming more clearer.

"Hi" Gon said breathlessly and a bit awkward.

"Hey" Killua replied, equally breathless and awkward.

"How have you been?"

"I've been good, h-how've you been?"

"I've been okay."

Gon's eyes traveled Killua's face, his light cheeks turning that pink Gon loved to see. If Gon could study his face for the rest of his life, he'd do so happily.

The way his pale hair curled around his eyes that shone the prettiest blue he'd ever seen. His upturned  nose that twitched whenever Gon made him hard enough laugh. His cheeks that wore a blush that the girls online wished they could replicate. His lips. Gon never forgot the taste of his mouth. He hoped he never would.

"Oh you are both so pathetic. Just go out all ready!" Both of their heads snapped towards Retz, her glare was strong. "All you two ever do is make googly eyes at each other and flirt!" The matching embarrassed expression on pairs faces were nearly comical.

It would be, but the small number of students that noticed her earlier scene was beginning to grow with her volume.

"Gon, you're constantly rejecting me for him. So do everyone a favor and just do it already!" With that, she turned and sashayed away.

Gon's jaw fell slightly open, he wanted to say something, anything to retaliate with but he couldn't.

It was pathetic. They've been attached at the hip since Killua woke up in that hospital bed. Killua was had his own side of Gon's bed, his dad always cooked extra in case Killua came for dinner which he usually did. There's never one without the other. Everyone knows that.

A hand grasped his, squeezing for his attention. "Gon? The bell rung, let's go." He squeezed back and let himself be dragged to their first class.

"Go out with me" it's quiet, sudden, and easily heard in the silence of Gon's dark bedroom.

Gon, playing games on his phone, answers thoughtlessly, "yeah sure." before he really processes what was said.

He turns to Killua, who is sitting with his back against the wall and legs resting on top of Gon's stomach, at breakneck speed, his phone dropping onto his chest as he sits up, causing Killua's legs to fall to his lap.

"What? Are- are you serious?" Killua can only give a nervous closed lip smile as he nods.

Gon's eyes search his face, for something, anything, to tell what Killua is thinking behind those pretty blue eyes.

But besides the anxiety of asking, he isn't getting anything. He lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding onto so desperately and nods his head yes.

"Yes, yes Killua I'll go out with you." Killua's head falls backwards onto the wall behind him and his body sags in relief, a smile breaking out onto his face.

"So like, we're boyfriends now right?" Gon confirms. He has to confirm. It doesn't feel real.

Killua reaches for his hand. Pale fingers cold to the touch, rest against the back of his hand. He took a hold of his hand, their fingers sliding together smoothly.

Naturally.

"Hugging, kissing, boyfriend's Gon. Dates and spending the night together. Everything that comes with the label."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah."
