The Reigning Sky

CHAPTER 4

The car ride to Lauren's and Sky's apartment was silent. Unbeknownst to Lauren, Sky had a interesting past. Once her parents died she was never the same. Sky put her head on the headrest and drifted off to sleep.

"Papa!! Papa!!!" Screamed a eight year old Sky. She ran in to her father's arms. He just came home from doing 5 years in prison.

"My angel. I've missed you so much." He said kissing her on the cheek. "Where's mama?" He asked walking in the kitchen. Sky followed him with a big smile on her face.

"Ah, my beautiful wife Natália." Raj said picking up his wife.

Natália smiled and said "I've missed you too Raj. Now let me finish cooking dinner. Sky come help mommy while Papa cleans up."

Sky went and put her apron on. Her mother was smiling again. She was so happy to have Raj back home. They finished cooking dinner and her father came back down just in time. He shaved his growing bread and had gotten muscular. He was still the same man to Natália. The sweet, caring man she fell in love with. There was a knock on the door that will forever change Sky's life.

Lauren had parked her car and nudged Sky to wake up. "Girl come on. We're home." Sky opened her eyes and sighed. She unbuckled her seatbelt and got out the car. They headed towards the lobby of their apartment. They lived on the northwest side of the Bronx. They lived in a okay neighborhood. Once they reached the elevator, Sky pressed number three.

Lauren was ready to find out how Sky knew Kendall so she asked again. "Sky how you know Kendall?"

Sky took a deep breath and rolled her eyes. They were on their floor. "Just drop it okay. He's my cousin. That's all I'm saying." She said putting her key in the door and opening it.

Lauren was confused. She never heard Sky say anything about her family but all of a sudden she had a cousin. "What?! He's your cousin how could that be? I mean you never talked about your family ever. I thought you didn't have any." Lauren said pressing the issue.

"Lauren I'm tired and I'm going to bed. I told you to drop it." Sky said walking in her room and shutting her door. She walked in her bathroom and wiped her makeup off. She then ran the water for a bath. Sky took her hair out the bun and sat in the tub. It was just how she liked it; hot. She placed her head back and closed her eyes.

Raj got up from the table and walked over to the door. He grabbed his .45 and cocked it back. "Papa" Sky calling her father.

"My angel, if anything happens to Mama and I, I want you to know we love you. Now go back with Mama." Raj knew once he got out people would becoming for his head. He did his time, no snitching and spoke to no one.

Raj was respected in the streets but had many enemies. He looked out to see who it was. It was his brother Rahul. He placed his gun on his waist, Raj opened the door for his brother. He welcomed him. "My brother how are you? Where is Kendall and Elise?" Rahul hugged his brother.

"At home where they should be. I just came by to tell you.. He didn't finish his sentence. Rahul sliced Raj's throat in his own home. Sky had witnessed it all. She had hid in the closet. She covered her mouth so her uncle couldn't hear her scream. Tears streamed down her face but she quickly wiped them away.

Rahul went to the dinning room and saw Natália sitting there. He wondered where Sky was but didn't care to ask. "Natália. You know what I want. It was bad enough Raj slept around on you with my wife. Kendall is his son not mine. How could you take him back after that?"

She slammed her hands on the table. "ENOUGH!" She yelled. "I loved my husband. Rahul if your going to kill me do it." Natália didn't put up a fight. She would never tell him where he kept his money.

"You ungrateful bitch. He slapped her and she fell to the ground. By this time Sky was on the floor in the hallway. She watched her uncle rape her mother. Her mother's eyes meet hers. She mouthed the words "I love you" After her uncle was finished he sliced her throat as well. He knew there was no money in the house. He quickly left and never looked back. Sky ran to her room and cried her eyes out. She was prepared for this day. Her father always prepared her for this day. Unbeknownst to them they didn't think it would be Rahul.

Sky opened her eyes and shook her head. She couldn't go back to that life. She was older now and avenged her parents death. "Why did Kendall come back in my life" She thought. She did her hygiene and got out the tub. She went in her room and lotion her body. She put a pair of shorts on and a tank top. Sky was still confused on why Kendall came back in her life. She knew they weren't cousins but brother and sister. She knew her father wouldn't want her to kill his own blood. It wasn't settling well with her. She shook it off and headed to bed.

Lauren had received a text from Rico, her boy toy. She smiled while she opened the text.
Rico: baby let me come ova. I miss your ass. Haven't seen you in a week. Frfr.
Me: I kno bae but not tonight. Tmrrw. I promise. I love you baby. 😘😘
Lauren smiled to herself. She was messing with Rico and Mike at the same time. She didn't care because that's how she was. Mike gives her money and Rico keeps her up to date. She laid across her King sized bed. She wonder what Mike was mad with her about but she will figure that out in the morning. Tonight was a crazy night for her. She wanted Kendall by any means necessary and she was determined to get him.
