Two weeks later...
For Sky Patel it had been a long two weeks. She had found another apartment to live in. She didn't want to impose on Jay. They barely said anything to one another. He was in his own world and she was in hers.
There was a knock on the door and Sky got up to answer it. It was the police. They've been looking for Sky ever since the shooting. "Ahhh Ms. Patel you've been a hard women to track down."
Sky froze, she didn't know what to do or what to say. She quickly thought of something and decided to keep her poker face. "Hello officer. May I ask you your name?" She asked.
"I'm detective Jake Benson. I'm looking for Jayceon Carter but being that your here, I'm killing two birds at once." He stated.
Just then Jayceon walked around the corner. He looked at the guy who was standing in front of his door. He shot Sky a look, which made her skin crawl. "Can I help you?" Asked Jay. He was heated and wanted to know why this guy was at his door. The detective turned around and smiled.
"Mr. Carter I'm detective Jake Benson and I was just about to inform Ms. Patel that Lauren Powell has been murdered." He said looking back at Sky who was now crying.
Detective Benson was a tall stocky man who smelled like cigarettes and coffee. He's been in the business for over 10 years. He's seen and heard everything. He was ready to pin the murder on Sky Patel but needed evidence. The one thing he didn't have. Something that ate at him when he took the case.
Jay's nose flared. He didn't need this kind of heat at his place. "Did you find out who killed her?" He asked dryly. He didn't care about it but if he had to explain to Kendall that Sky was arrested then he need as much information he could get.
"No we haven't. We do have witnesses that say Ms. Patel was the one who actually pulled the trigger." He said never taking his eyes off of her. Sky eyes was filled with tears. She was a wreck but she wouldn't let him break her.
"Ms. Patel I would like for you to come down to the station for questioning and a line up. If that's not a problem for you?" He continued. Detective Benson placed a cigarette in his mouth and lit it.
"No problem let me call my lawyer." Sky said finally speaking. Detective Benson took a deep breath. "Smart girl." He thought. Sky called her lawyer to meet her at the station. She smiled at Detective Benson before saying "Weren't you here to speak with Mr. Carter?"
"Yes, Mr. Carter I was here to inform you that Raquel Blake has died. We need you to identify the body at the morgue." He said plainly. Jay couldn't say anything at first. He was shocked but he held his composure. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"We are looking at this as a suicide. We will still need you to come down to the morgue to view the body. Our mortician leaves at 6:00PM. The sooner the better Mr. Carter." He continued while walking towards the elevator.
Jay walked in his apartment and threw the bag of money he had on the floor. He paced back and forth. He took a deep breath and exhaled. They didn't need this heat around them. He looked at Sky and slowly walked towards her. "You can't stay here ma. I'll call Ken for you but you can't stay here. I don't need this heat right now." He said looking her dead in her face.
"I've found an apartment and was moving out today. No need to call Ken, he doesn't need to be involved in this." She said while grabbing her keys. She walked towards the door and left. Sky didn't want Ken involved but decided calling him herself. Something about Jay wasn't settling well with her.
Ring Ring Ring...
"What's up Sky?" He answered dryly. He wasn't in the mood to play games. He needed answers and he figured she would be the one with them."Ken, I'm headed downtown to the police station. They have witnesses that pointed me out as the shooter. I'm meeting my lawyer there. I just wanted to be the one to tell you." She said in one breath. She wasn't going to waste his or her time. She could potentially go to jail for this so she had to get straight to the point.
"What the fuck. Sky I'm on my way. Where the fuck is Jay at?" Ken yelled in the phone. He was upset and wanted to know why Jay didn't call him. He made a metal note to ask him about that.
"He had his own business to handle. I see you at the station. I love you Kendall. Remember that." Sky replied and hung up the phone. She inhaled and then exhaled. "I hope he can get me out this one." She thought.
The walk in the station was dreadful. Sky knew she didn't belong there but there was no turning back now. She walked up to the receptionist desk and provided her name. Sky's lawyer Fernando Blake walked in just in time. They head towards the interrogation room where her fate was going to be determined.
