The beeping of the monitors filled my ears, and I tried to tune it out, but it was just too loud.

The pain shooting through my whole body, was completely unbearable. I felt like it was never going to go away, but I wanted it to. I needed it to.

I felt something clasp around my left hand, and I struggled to open my eyes, so that I could see what it was.

"Lilly." A voice whispered.

I frowned, trying to figure out who was talking to me.

Was it Justin? My mom? Who?

"Lilly, please open your eyes." The voice whispered again.

I couldn't open my eyes. Didn't the voice understand? I was in too much pain. Unbearable pain.

"Lilly. Come on. Please? I love you. I need you." The voice said, again.

I frowned and tried to open my eyes. I wanted to see who was talking to me. My eyes didn't budge, and I groaned in pain, when the pain shot through my body.

"Ahh!" I cried, my eyes shooting open.
"Lilly?" The voice whispered, again.
"It hurts!" I cried, the tears filling my eyes, as once again the pain shot through my body.
"I know, sweetheart. Just try to relax." The voice said.

I looked over and my eyes met Justin's. His eyes were dark, and he had circles under his eyes. His hair was shaggy, and he looked tired.

"J-Justin?" I cried, tears pouring from my eyes.

He looked up at me, and a tear slid down from his cheek. He jumped to his foot and came over, and got in bed beside me, being as careful as he could.

"I'm so sorry, Lilly." He whispered, pulling me into his arms.

I snuggled up against him, the pain easing.

"D-Don't b-be." I bawled, into his arms.
"Shh, sweetheart. Let me talk." He told me, stroking my hair.

I nodded, and buried my head in his chest.

"When you left, I went crazy. I didn't know what else to do, or where to turn, so I went for a beer. Then when you hadn't come to me, after about a week, I did more than just drink beer. Then when you finally came home, I was furious with you. I didn't understand, why you hadn't called me, or why you hadn't bothered to show u. So I didn't know what to do, and my anger got the best of me. That's why I shoved you in front of the car, Lilly. After the paramedics took you inside, I felt like everything that I had, went with you. I was heartbroken, and I could only hope, that you would be okay. I'm just so sorry, Lilly; because I love you and I need you." Justin explained, sighing.

"It's okay." I whispered.
"No, it's not, Lilly. I hurt you, and that's the last thing I would ever want to do." Justin said.
"Justin. I forgive you." I told him. "Why, Lilly?" He asked, leaning up to look at me.

I closed my eyes, taking deep breaths, so that the pain would go away.

Why did I forgive him? How could I forgive someone for doing something like that?

I could only think of one answer.

I loved him.

"Justin, I left because Mary Anne needed me. You needed me too, I know. But you're my boyfriend, she's my best friend. She needed me too, and I couldn't just let her down. I'm sorry, I didn't tell you though. I'm sorry, that I left, without, telling you where I was going."
"It's okay." He said, kissing my forehead.
"Promise me, that you'll never do something like that again." I told him, looking up at him.
"I promise." He told me.
"Okay." I said.

I snuggled into him and sighed content. I closed my eyes, willing the pain to go away, so I could enjoy being in his arms. But it didn't go away, it was still there.

"Are you still in pain?" Justin asked.
"Yes." I whispered.

Justin reached over, and pulled a string on the wall, that would alert the nurse to come in.

A few minutes later, a lady walked in. She was wearing a white coat, like most nurses wore, and she looked really young.

"Yes?" She asked.
"She's going to need some pain medication." Justin answered.
"Right away." She said, walking out of the room.
"I can already tell. I won't like her." I muttered into his chest.
"Why?" He asked.
"Because she sounds like a snob." I answered.
"Right." He laughed.
"Stop laughing." I cried.
"No." He answered.
"Please?"I asked.
"Fine." He said.
"Did I hear laughing in here?" A voice asked from the doorway.

I looked up and saw Mrs. Dawson.

"Mrs. Dawson!" I squealed, staring at her.
"Lilly. I'm so glad to see you're finally awake." She answered, coming in, and sitting down on the couch.
"Me? How about you?" I cried, looking at her.
"Oh. You're so cute." She laughed.
"How did this happen?" I asked Justin, looking up at him.
"She woke up, right after you were put in a room. I was in your room, when she woke up, and then your mom ran in here and told me she was awake, but she was cut off, when she saw you. Speaking of your mom, you should probably call her, she's been freaking out since you've been here."
"Okay." I answered.
"I'll give you two some privacy." Mrs. Dawson said, looking knowingly at Justin.
"Am I missing something here?" I asked, looking between the two of them.
"Oh nothing." Mrs. Dawson said.
"Right." I replied.

Mrs. Dawson left the room, and then the nurse walked back into give my medication. She walked over to me, and injected me with a needle. After she was done, she turned on her heel, and walked out.

"How are you feeling?" Justin asked.
"Much better." I replied.
"Good." He answered, holding me closer.
"So what was that about?" I asked.
"What was what about?" He asked.
"That whole thing with your mom." I answered.
"Oh. That." He said, nervously.
"Yes. That." I replied.
"Um, well, I was going to ask you something, but now isn't a good time." Justin said.
"Why isn't it?"
"Because you're hurt."
"So?"
"I don't want to ask you, while your hurt."
"Just ask me."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Justin."
"Lilly."
"Ask me."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Justin please?" I asked looking at him.
"Fine." He said.
"Thank you." I answered.

He took a deep breath and then got to his feet, he looked at me in the eyes and smiled.

"Will you marry me, Lilly?"

I stared at him. He wanted me to marry him? We hadn't even graduated yet, and he wanted me to marry him.

"Why?" I whispered.
"Because I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
"But we're not even out of high school, yet."
"So? Who says we have to get married now?"
"Right." I laughed, looking at him.
"So, will you?" He asked.
"Yes." I answered him.

He smiled, and pulled something out of his pocket. He took my left hand and slid a ring onto my finger.

He leaned down, and then pressed his lips gently against mine.

"I love you." He whispered.
"I love you too." I whispered back.

Justin grinned and pressed his lips against mine again.

Maybe everything will be okay after all.
