Marissa sat down on the floor, surrounded by the covered neon graffiti inside the decapitated buildings. She held her phone in focus as she scrolled through the images of food, biting her lip nervously.

Carlos stood further ahead, his eyes fixed on the wall. He shook one of the spray cans thoughtfully before a grin spread.

"That would work," he muttered, glancing at Marissa, his brows furrowing at her concentrated look. Shaking the can obnoxiously to gain her attention, he noticed she didn't react, her eyes still glued to her phone as she muttered. Frustrated, Carlos let out a sigh.

Walking towards her, he yanked the phone from her hand, causing Marissa to squeal in shock. Her eyes widen, and she quickly stands up to grab her phone back.

"Hey! Give me that!" Marissa exclaimed, her face scrunched up in frustration as Carlos laughed at her, scrolling through her phone while trying his best to avoid her reaching hand.

"Carlos, this isn't funny," Marissa whined, stretching her hand towards her phone, but Carlos raised it above his head with a grin.

As Carlos looked at images of food on his phone, he dropped his guard for a moment, allowing Marissa to snatch the phone away quickly.

Shrugging, Carlos said, "You know, if you're hungry, we can just grab some food before the teacher wakes up."

"I'm not hungry, dimwit!" Marissa exclaimed, her face flushed with anger. "Don't snatch my phone from me."

Carlos's face flashed with shock at her insult before he regained his composure. "Sorry, sweetheart. I didn't know you had a mouth on you."

"I choose my words carefully, thank you very much," Marissa replied, dropping back to the floor to continue her quest.

Not satisfied with how things had turned out, Carlos spoke again. "This is the third day of detention, and you still seem so uptight. Why are you scrolling through food pics?" he asked.

Marissa sighed tiredly before her gaze met his softly. "I have a cooking contest next week," she said.

"A cooking contest? For what?" he asked, coming to sit beside her.

"I'm in the gardening club, and they gave us some plants months ago to grow and use for the contest," Marissa explained. "Luckily, my baby carrot grew despite me not taking care of it, but it isn't mature yet."

"Gardening club?" Carlos chuckled, though there was no malice in it. "I'm guessing your handsome bodyguard is also a member of it?" he asked.

"Handsome bodyguard?" Marissa repeated, confused, before her mind caught up. "You mean Kevin! Wait, did you just call him handsome?" she asked with a grin.

"I mean... he is," Carlos shrugged. "I'm guessing now you're looking for a recipe to use the carrot in?"

"Yes," Marissa sighed. "I suck at cooking."

"I could help you out," Carlos said with a smile.

"How?"
