The thickness of the walls muffled the sounds of the gunshots. So no one could hear them. The sheriff picks up the phone from the floor. Mia is still on the line."Um, hello?" She says as he swings the phone to his ear.
He pants heavily into the phone.
"I did it.. It's done, she's dead." He says as he wipes the blood spatter from his face with his undershirt.
"Get rid of the body." Mia says, shortly before hanging up.
The sheriff sits down on the bed in complete shock. "This wasn't my job." He repeats to himself.
After a few minutes, he pulls himself together and contemplates his next move. First, he leaves the hotel room, looking down the hall for anyone that might have heard something. He makes sure to lock the door behind him.
Then he sneaks out to his truck using the back exit. He grabs a bag from the trunk and sneaks back into the room. Inside the bag contains a bottle of bleach, a towel, gloves, a mask, a sponge, a blue tarp body bag and a few more smaller materials.
He lays the bag flat on the floor and rolls Terri's body on top of it. He centers her body and folds both sides of the bag on top of her and zips it up.
He then drags the body up under the bed. He puts on the gloves and the mask, then drenches the sponge in bleach. He scrubs the floor thoroughly until all the blood is gone.
He cleans up everything else that might be considered evidence. He wipes off any fingerprints or DNA he could have left behind. When he finally leaves, the room is spotless.
He sneaks back into the parking lot and gets into his truck, driving back to the station.
Hours later, a call comes in from the hotel. One of the maids reported a smell coming from the room. The hotel staff discovered Terri's body underneath the bed.
The Sheriff took the call and acted as if he was surprised. But they know he was the last to see her alive. As soon as he got off the phone, he made a report declaring her as deceased.
He was then able to sign over the insurance policy money to Kenya. After he did that, he makes a call to Mia to tell her and she shoots the message to Kenya.
Not long after that, Kenya goes to make the transaction to transfer the money into her account.
Then she drives down to the prison and when she walks in she asks for Lex's bail at the front desk.
"For Alexis Latimore, bail will be two thousand dollars paid in cash." The officer says.
Kenya didn't flinch at the price, she anonymously bails Lex out of jail. When Lex finally retrieves her things, she's still clueless as to who paid off her bail. But when the officer escorts her out, Kenya is standing right outside the doors.
Lex stops dead in her tracks.
"What ..the hell are you doing here?" She asks. "You remember me now? Did you.. Are YOU the idiot that bailed me out? No." Lex turns around, "Take me back, fuck that shit. Fuck my bail, take me back to my cell!" She yells to the officer."Wait! Lex, just give me a chance.. We need to talk, at home." Kenya says.
"Home!? No Fuck that, I'm not going nowhere with you!" Lex screams as she charges toward Kenya. The officer goes after her, holding her back by her arms.
"Ma'am, you need to calm down." He orders.
"No FUCK that! Take me back inside!" Lex demands.
Kenya backs up a little. "Lex, please. I just dropped two grand on your bail. The least you can do is listen to what I have to say."
Lex stands there and eventually calms herself down. "Whatever, but after you finish saying whatever the fuck you're gonna say.. I'm leaving. I'm packing my shit and I'm leaving Kenya." Lex power walks to the car.
On the way to their apartment, the ride is awkwardly silent. Lex refuses to even look at Kenya so she stares blankly out of the window.
As they're pulling up to the front, Lex's eyes light up. "Where did.. What the fuck.. Kenya what is this!?"
There's a brand new Jag parked outside in the driveway.
Lex jumps out of the car before it even comes to a stop.
"You bought me a new Jag? Kenya! What.. The fuck. Where did you get this kind of money? It took me forever to save up and buy mine! What's going on?" She says as Kenya parks and gets out of the car.
"You can have the keys when I'm done talking." Kenya walks up to the front door and Lex follows in after her.
"Sit down." Kenya says.
Lex plops down on the couch, undeniably happy to be back. "Why are you doing this?" she looks up at Kenya for an answer.
Kenya sits down across from her. "Listen, Lex.. There's something I have to tell you.."
Lex starts to look more worried than angry. "What?.. What is it?"
Kenya forces a few fake tears. "It's Terri..she.."
Lex cuts her off, "What!? What's wrong Terri? Kenya what is it?"
Kenya looks up into Lex's eyes. "She died Lex.. She died this morning."
Lex falls to the floor, holding onto her chest as if she was having a heart attack. Several tears begin to rush down her face, all at once. "No..no..No, no, no. She can't.. She can't leave me. NO! You're lying! Where's Terri? I just saw her Kenya! Where is she!?"
Kenya kneels down and tries to comfort Lex. "I'm not lying..There's more, just listen to me."
Lex looks up, waiting for Kenya to finish what she has to say. "How did she die Kenya? What happened?"
Kenya ignores the question. "..I got a call today, telling me that.. that I'm the beneficiary of an insurance policy.. The money belonged to Terri, Lex." Kenya rubs her hands across Lex's back.
"What..? What are you saying? How did you get it?" Lex asks. "Answer my question!"
Kenya inhales deeply and takes a minute to respond.
"She was my sister Lex.. Her father had an affair with my mom. We have the same dad Lex.. and when she died, the money was passed on to me."
Lex's eyes wonder around the room, pained and confused. She stands up on her feet, covering her face. Her nose is running and her face is plush red.
"How did she DIE Kenya!?" Lex demands an answer.
Kenya looks down and replies. "She was found in a hotel room, she was shot to death."
Lex begins to cry so violently, so hard. Her vision is blurred from all the tears, her chest burns from all the trembling. It's almost like her heart is aching so bad that it's gonna break right out of her chest.
"She's gone.. My best friend, is gone!" She screams out in pain. "Who did this? Who did this to her? They're gonna pay, man they're gonna Fucking PAY!"
Kenya goes into the kitchen and fixes a wet rag. She comes to Lex's aid and wipes her tears from her face as she sits on the floor miserably.
"It's gonna be okay, I know it hurts baby." Kenya says, wrapping her arms around Lex.
Lex rips away in anger, "NO! Its NOT okay! She's dead and you're ALREADY spending her money!? I don't want that car, and I don't want you." She gets up and storms into the bedroom. She pulls down a suitcase from a shelf in the corner.
She packs up a lot of her things, throwing them in the bag. When she packs what she needs and takes her stash of money, she walks into the living room staring at Kenya. "All you wanted was the money.. Well, you got it.. But you won't have me." She says as she walks out of the apartment, slamming the door.
Kenya runs behind her, "Where are you gonna go Alexis?" She yells from the front door.
"Far away from here!" She screams, walking down the street. Kenya walks down the driveway, "Lex! Would you at least take the car?"
"I DONT want the fucking car!" She screams again.
Kenya ducks back into the house and sits down crying.
