You had always wondered what it felt like to stand before someone dangerous.

Would you be smart? Brave? Or you"ll be with trembling hands and tears running down your face?

But standing here now, in front of someone not explicitly dangerous but certainly not harmless, you felt... off.

Not fear exactly. Something stranger. It was like your instincts had kicked in before your brain could catch up, warning you in whispers you couldn't quite hear.

You stared at him. Dr. Garaki. Kyudai Garaki.

The man who made the Nomus, who worked with All for One. His face was benign, almost grandfatherly, his small round glasses perched on his nose, his hair an unassuming gray.

If you didn't know better, You'd think he was just another eccentric scientist who happened to work with your dad.

But You did know better.

And that knowledge made your small hands curl into fists, hidden under the table. Your stomach churned, twisting itself into knots. You weren't in danger-yet. But knowing who he truly was made it hard to breathe.

"Congratulations, little Y/N," he said, his voice light and professional, almost kind if you didn't notice the glint in his eyes that sent chills down your spine. He tapped a finger against the X-ray displayed on the lightboard.

"As you can see here..." He gestured to the screen, his tone dripping with feigned enthusiasm, "your little toe lacks an articulation, a common marker for individuals with quirks. This mutation is scientifically linked to quirk development. Fascinating, isn't it?"

Fascinating? You wanted to laugh at how calm he sounded, like he wasn't a man who'd turned living beings into mindless monsters.

You glanced at your mom. She sat beside you, her face lighting up with joy at his words.

"Well, that's wonderful news! So we'll just have to wait for Y/N's quirk to manifest then!" Her eyes turned to you, brimming with excitement.

"Isn't that exciting, sweetie?"

You nodded, forcing a smile.

"Yeah... really exciting."

Your voice sounded thin, almost robotic. You hoped mom wouldn't notice how your hands had gone clammy. You couldn't even look her in the eye, you were too busy keeping your gaze locked on Dr. Garaki, watching every twitch, every movement.

He turned his attention back to the screen, fiddling with a pen.

You had to remind myself that you were  just a kid here-a four-year-old little girl with no quirk yet. Just Y/N, the daughter of his colleague. Nothing suspicious. Nothing worth his attention.

But it didn't stop the creeping dread from crawling up your spine.

Your hands fidgeted with the hem of your dress, your eyes darting back to Dr. Garaki. He didn't seem to notice you staring-he was too focused on the X-ray, a peculiar smile playing on his lips.

"What are you hoping for, hmm?" he asked, finally turning to you. His gaze was steady, almost too steady.

"A flashy quirk? Something useful? Or perhaps something more... unique?"

His question felt loaded, like a trap disguised as a harmless query. Your mind screamed at you to be careful, to tread lightly. "I don't know yet," You said quietly, your voice barely above a whisper. "But I guess it's... something related to ny parent's quirk."

He chuckled, a low, unsettling sound. "Ah, That could certainly be the case."

Your lips twitched into a half-smile, but your heart pounded against your chest like a drum. You felt like a mouse under the gaze of a cat, trying not to flinch, not to show fear.
