It was supposed to be just another birthday.
Except, this year, your mom went full-on extra mode.
"I thought it'd be fun to do something special for your eleventh!" she'd said way too cheerfully, twirling around the kitchen with her planner like a sugar-fueled tornado. Her hair was still in rollers, and she had three different sticky notes stuck to her arm like battle tattoos. "And you love roller coasters! So I thought... amusement park!"
...She wasn't wrong. You did love roller coasters. The scarier the better. You had a mild addiction to that dizzy, giddy drop feeling. But still.
Also, she invited them.
"I texted Mitsuki! Katsuki's coming too. And Izuku, of course," she added with a wink that had way too much knowing energy behind it.
You choked on your cereal.
Bakugo Katsuki. Your classmate-slash-neighborhood menace since you were four. You'd known him long enough to memorize the exact pitch his voice hit when he was about to scream at someone.
And Izuku? He was sunshine in boy form. Sweet, anxious, thoughtful to the point of giving himself headaches. Your best friend. Possibly your emotional support human in this universe.
By 10:04AM, you were standing in front of the giant entrance gates of Kaboom Kingdom, clutching your ticket like it was your Hogwarts letter.
You were wearing a yellow blouse—the one with the little embroidered daisies near the collar—and a matching hairband that your mom insisted would "bring out the glow in your cheeks." Paired with denim shorts and your white sneakers that were slightly scuffed but still hanging in there.
Your mom had triple-checked your outfit like you were going on a red carpet, brushing invisible lint off your shoulder and muttering, "You'll thank me when you look cute in the photos."
Izuku was already waiting by the entrance, bouncing on his heels like a nervous puppy, holding a small brown paper gift bag with messy drawings of stars on it.
He spotted you instantly and lit up like someone had turned on his inner sunshine switch. He waved enthusiastically, almost dropping the bag.
He was wearing a red T-shirt with a subtle All Might logo on the chest and green cargo shorts. His red sneakers looked brand-new. His hair was a little flatter than usual—clearly someone tried to brush it down—and you wondered if it was his mom or if he'd fought the good fight alone with a comb and too much water.
"Y/N!! Happy birthday!" he beamed, stepping forward with that slightly awkward energy he always had when he was excited but also nervous.
"Um, here! I—I made you something! It's not like amazing or anything, but—"
You blinked and reached out for the gift, already grinning. "Don't worry I'm sure it's cool"
He paused. "I hope you like it..."
You peeked inside the bag and saw what looked like a small clay keychain—shaped vaguely like... a cat? Honestly, it was a bit of a mystery. The paint job was messy but colorful, and glitter was unevenly scattered across the top like someone lost control of the sparkle glue halfway through. Still, it was hand-made.
You smiled, turning it over in your palm. It had tiny smudged letters on the back that looked like your initials. The effort alone made your chest feel a little warm.
"Thanks, Izuku," you said softly, and he blushed so fast it was almost impressive.
He rubbed the back of his neck, shifting on his feet. His freckles seemed to stand out more than usual with how red his face got. "I-it's not perfect or anything, but I thought you'd like—y-you like cats, right? And glitter's fun so I... yeah."
