Chapter 7 new pack

Cara's pov

I watched as he watched me. Our as locked. He had beautiful eyes. Those purple flecks had me memorized.

I wanted to step forward. To touch him in anyway even if it was a simple brush.

He took the first step towards me. Then he froze. He shifted back to his human form and he was even more amazing.

Dark brown hair that hung in his eyes. His violet flecked eyes. His lips were an amazing red. He was well built and stood to be about 6'5.

"We'll love are you going to shift back." His voice was so sexy. Then I realized he wanted me to shift. I shook myself and shifted.

"Hi." Was my clever response.

He took another step towards me. "Who are you?" He asked not in a unkindly way.

"My name is Cara." I told him.

"You are rouge?" He asked. I knew he already knew the answer but I nodded my head anyway. "For how long?" He asked.

"Not much longer than a couple of weeks." I answered him. My answer seemed to have surprised him.

"What are you doing in my territory?"

"I..." I was interrupted by a piercing howl. I watched as my mates face paled.

"Stay near me." Was all he said as he shifted into his wolf form.

Without a second thought I did the same and kept close to him as we ran.

Drakes pov

I watched as my mate shifted back to her human form. I wanted to gasp when I saw her beautiful form.

She had dark brown hair with red highlights. She was tall about 5'8 and she had the most amazing eyes. Dark blue with flecks of yellow. She had pink full lips and rosy red cheeks. She had freckles along side of her nose. She was beautiful.

I started to ask her questions but I didn't give her much time to answer the first one before I started asking the second one.

She was going to answer why she was here in my territory when a horrible howl ripped through the air.

My wolf screamed at me 'protect our mate.' But there was something wrong with the pack. I looked back over at her and said "stay near me." Then I shifted.

We started running towards my pack at top speed. I was worried Cara... Wow wait I didn't know her name! Where did that come from?

I was worried Cara wouldn't be able to keep up with me but when I looked over she was keeping up just fine, almost as if this was too easy for her.

Another howl filled the air and we ran faster. We ran directly to the noise. I soon realized that it was coming from the clearing that was just up ahead.

I pushed past some bushes and found 5 rouges circling some pups form my pack. There parents and family helplessly watching from behinde.

I released a loud growl as a warning to the rouges. One looked at me with curiosity but made the mistake of looking me in the eye for too long. I lunged.

The wolf didn't know what was coming and I quickly took him out. Behinds me I heard the wolves howl as the joined me to kill the other rouges. The four must have realized how outnumbered they were because they took off running. But when I turned around there was something else standing where my mate had been. A lioness.

Cara's pov

I watched my mate closely. His body was tense ready to strike. When one of the rouges made the mistake of looking him in the eye too long. When you look an alpha wolf in the eye for too long it means you are challenging him, even if you don't mean it. The alpha then has to prove there power, this wolf being a rouge and kidnapping those kids was killed but must of the time a good beating is all that happens.

I watched the rouges. I could tell they were not going to give up and one was going to call for reinforcements, but I could not let that happen. I switched to the first form I could think of. When the rouges noticed me their eyes widened and without a second thought they ran off.

My mate, Drake... Wait I didn't know his name?

My mate Drake turned around to look at me and surprise filled his eyes. He slowly walked over to me, sniffing the air to make sure I was still me.

Before I knew what was happening all of the wolves were bowing to me. Why would they do that? I wondered. I'm nothing special. 'Yes you are' my wolf reminded me.

Many years ago there use to be more shifters and they were highly respected for there power. Now they are not many left. In clouding myself there is only about five. Not only were shifters able to learn all of the animal forms but they could learn extinct forms too.

Drake came up to stand next to me and he nuzzled my neck. I made almost a purring sound, feeling happy and content.

I felt embarrassed with all of the wolves bowing to me. It really wasn't necessary for then to do that.

I watched as one by one they all stood up. It's a good thing lionesses do not blush because my face would have been tomato red.

I looked back over a drake and shifted back to my wolf form. I stood as close as I could get too him and still I wanted to be closer.

Slowly all of the wolves left leaving me and Drake alone.

We both shifted back ready to finish the conversation we had started.

"Your a shifter." He said. It wasn't a question, but I nodded my head anyway.

I looked at his face hoping that the fact I was a shifter would change his feelings for me. I started getting nervous though as the silence dragged on.

I watched Drake and it seemed he finally came up with something he wanted to say. "I want you to come with me. You will be my packs Luna and my wife when the time is right." He said it like I had no choice. This angered me. I did not want to be told what to do. I finally got a chance to live my life and I was not going to let other people live it for me.

Drakes pov

I could see the hurt and anger in my mates eyes when I had finished speaking. I knew I screwed up but I didn't know what to say, and I was afraid if I didn't say anything that that would anger her.

I had to correct this I wasn't letting her go.

"No that came out way wrong. Cara listen please I'm sorry, I didn't mean for it too come out like that. I don't know you but I know I love you. I want you to stay with me because you want to not because you have too!" I was getting frantic thinking that she was going to leave me now and not look back.

She surprised me when she wrapped her arms around my waist. Sarks shot up my body at the contact and I quickly wrapped my arms around her too.

"I'll come with you." She said. "I want to." I smiled pleased that she forgave me.

"Let's go so you can meet the pack." I took her hand and lead her through the woods. With her by my side I felt complete.
