Amdiriel found herself in another room, fiddling with her dress. This time she stood in front of a mirror, her hair free of any braids she was so used to due to the need to always be battle ready. Though it was different, she liked it. Amdiriel thought she would surely faint from the nerves she could feel rolling around in her stomach. She turned to get to the door as soon as she heard a knock, eager to distract her racing thoughts. "Oh." followed by a chuckle, was all Aragorn could say before Amdiriel jumped into his arms. They had only seen each other for a short time in the morning before they were rushed around to prepare for the upcoming ceremony. "You look beautiful." Aragorn said when Amdiriel stepped back, his hands linked with hers, and she blushed at the compliment. "Thank you. You look handsome as well." Amdiriel replied. "Thank you...Are you nervous?" he asked as he pulled her closer to him. "A little and you?" Aragorn nodded his head in agreement. Amdiriel let out a breath. "Do you believe we can do this? I know it is too late to decide not to go through with this now, but do you think we can do this?" Amdiriel asked. "I do, so many would not have believed and risked for us if they had believed otherwise."  Aragorn told her confidently. Amdiriel sighed and looked to the floor. "I know it, just it's all happening so fast, and I knew it would happen, but now it is happening-" "Hey, breathe for me, my love." Aragorn cut her off while grabbing her chin so she could look at him.  "I know, but the people believe in us, I believe in us, and I believe in you." Aragorn said. "That is all I need, just for you to believe in me and be there every sunrise and sunset forever." Amdiriel replied. "I promise. I love you." whispered Aragorn as he leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to her lips, one that sealed his promise to her.

A second later, a guard had come to let the couple know it was time. Together they walked out to the door and waited for their signal to enter the courtyard. Aragorn looked to Amdiriel "Stay by my side?" "Always." she replied while he kissed the back of her hand. The two were then given the signal that it was their turn to enter. Soldiers lined their path, which led them up to the steps of the entrance to the throne room. Amdiriel took in a deep breath as she witnessed the banners of Gondor being displayed proudly, flying gracefully in the breeze,  the archway and pillars were decorated in flowers and ribbon, and a beautiful navy blue fabric graced the stairs that would lead them to Gandalf and Lord Elrond. Gimli stood off to the side of the two, holding the crowns that would soon be placed on them. Amdiriel could not help but think of how many times she had graced those steps. The world seemed to move in slow motion as she and Aragorn walked towards them. She remembered her and her brothers playing on the steps, pretending to fight off dragons. She remembered the tears that fell down her face as her first crush broke her heart, and her mother let her cry into her arms. She remembered the proud smiles of her father as they came home from each task she and her siblings were given, followed by the look of relief and love of her mother. The laugh that would fill the air as the siblings and their friends would attempt not to tumble up the stairs from one too many drinks. She remembered the tears as she wept in anger that her mother had sacrificed for her, her own self-hatred eating at her till her brothers found her. She remembered the pain as she held back the tears, as her brothers pleaded with her not to leave on that fateful day, a time when she believed this day would no longer be possible.  These steps had seen her through so much, and they would continue to do so as she and her husband stepped up the stairs in unison. Before long, she stood in front of her uncle, who wore a proud smile; she could see the same pride reflected in Gandalf's face as she glanced at him.
