He had been gone for days now. Hyunjin searched for him everywhere, but to no avail.

Eventually he found a note in the kitchen, saying that he would be gone for a few days.

That was five days ago. Five long days.

Had he done something wrong? Was he not good enough or something?
But that would be a stupid reason to leave for five entire days, right?

He couldn’t stop overthinking. He did it every second of the day. After all, he had nothing else to do.

Or well, he could paint, but he had no motivation to do that. And there was nothing left in the house that he could paint. Paint he had enough of.

When the sixth day arrived, Felix finally returned.

Hyunjin never expected to be excited about hearing a lock turn.
He didn’t move locations though. He was slightly upset, and he wasn’t going to follow him around like some kind of puppy.

“There you are.” Felix said out of nowhere, making the other jump.
“Oh, yes.” Was all Hyunjin responded with. Felix didn’t care. He just walked forward, and before Hyunjin could comprehend all that was happening Felix was pressed against his chest, arms wrapped around him.

“I’m sorry.” He whispered. “I'm a dick for leaving for so long without saying anything.” The whisper went quieter with each word.
“You are.” Hyunjin responded, his whisper just a little bit louder than Felix’s. He felt a warm smile dawned on his own face as Felix’s grip around him tightened. “But you’re forgiven.”

“I am?”
Those beautiful eyes looking up at him, making him melt to a puddle of warm… love? Was that the right word? He didn’t know. He didn’t care.

A hand slipped in his. “Come on.” Felix spoke, suddenly not whispering anymore.
“Where are we going?” Hyunjin asked, letting Felix lead him wherever.

“The library of course!” Felix said joyfully. Hyunjin’s heart swelled with a warm feeling. “I need you to tell me what your favourite books are.”

And like always, Hyunjin obeyed. He did exactly what Felix wanted from him, because he wanted to listen to him. He wanted to obey, simply because it was Felix telling him what to do.

Hyunjin interlocked fingers with Felix. A sad feeling engulfed him.
“Felix?”
“Hm?” He was reading a book.
“You know that… this, that we’re not durable, right?” He spoke.
Felix’s eyebrows rose. He didn’t seem surprised, but mostly sad as well. “I know, that’s why I came back. I want to spend time with you now that we still can.”

And just like that, another month passed. To both men it was a blur.
Reading, talking, eating and cooking (or well, Felix did that bit but Hyunjin loved to watch), sex, cuddling, more talking, everything. They never got separated, except when Felix would have to go and buy groceries. He worked from home.

And before they knew it, they had almost passed a year.
