At the moment the guys were hanging out with some friends and Dani tagged alone. Well, she didn't want to because she didn't really know the group but Matt had begged her to go. And since Dani was the type to sit back and observe people, she clocked that one of the girls that were there, because another guy invited her as well, was eyeing Matt while she chatted with others.
Dani couldn't help but laugh to herself, especially when the girl would try flirting with him on the down low when she would jump into the conversation him another was having. Unlike Matt, Dani wasn't the jealous type at times. She never has been and she knew she didn't need to be.
"Hey, hey." One of the friend's girlfriend sits next to Dani.
"Carrie, right?" Dani remembers her name.
"Yep." The girl smiles, "You have a thing for Matt?" She asks Dani, "You just keep looking over there at him."
"I'm not looking at him. I'm looking at who's begging for his attention and failing." Dani tells her honestly.
"Yeah, she's met him once before and is kinda obsessed with him." Carrie laughs, "She said tonight is the night she makes a move."
"Asking him out." Dani doesn't question it.
"Yep. Told her good luck but I don't think it will go anywhere. I hardly know Matt but he doesn't seem like the type looking for a date. My boyfriend said Matt hates dating and the couple stuff."
"I'm sure there's an exception out there." Dani tells her, "Maybe it's her or not." They both start to laugh, "But trust me, deep down Matt is one of those softies. I've seen it. He just acts tough."
"I'm sure you know all three the best here. You live with them." Carrie gets up, "I'm gonna get another drink. When I come back do you want me to get you a new Dr. Pepper?"
"Please."
As Carrie walks away, Dani goes back to watching and watches the two talk but then sees Chris's reaction to bug spray getting in his eyes. She gets up to go help him and tells him he needs to flush it out but plays it off as he's okay.
"Seriously Chris?" She gives him a look trying to see his eye in the dark.
"I'm fine. I just got distracted."
"How so?" She laughs a bit and sees where he looked over at Matt and the girl, "You like her?" Dani says a bit loud so he covers her mouth dragging her away.
"Yeah, but she likes Matt more." He rubs his eyes a bit, "Remember I kinda have a thing for girls who don't like me." Dani gives him a look, "And don't tell me to give it a shot because she just asked Matt out."
"And he'll say no and you can swoop in." She sees the look on his face, "You'll find someone who likes you as much as you like them. I promise it will happen. Don't know when but it will." She wraps an arm around his waist.
